Most people will agree that the jab is one of if not the most important weapon in a boxing arsenal.

So this led me and a few friends to brainstorm if we could think of some great if not all time great fighters that got by without even a half decent jab.

    Can anyone name a few?

Obviously he did, but RARELY. He would use it most of the time just to feint.

    khaosai galaxy was another.

main point on why you don't throw a jab is because it gives away your position. if you can land they can hit you. so sometimes a normal jab can be a weakness.

Im not saying Gamboa is a ATG, but he is a really good fighter and never uses his jab

Gamboa is a good call .... and he has potential to be something special.
Do you think a good jab would add or detract from his style?

Same with Roy actually ... would it add something to his style ?

Pavlik uses the jab to set up his right hand ,Arturo did use it a lot when he chose to box

Gamboa's reach isnt that long, perhaps his jab wont be as effective. I dont know, i cant picture gamboa throwing alot of effective jabs.

wtf are you talking about? your position is across the ring, not hiding in ambush!!
the jab is used to hinder the other boxers vision, get your distance and set up your power punch (right/left hand).
