One jab........that's all Khan will need to derail the Maidana delusion train!

How long is Maidanas reach anyone? If Khans reach advantage is significant, he should just win the fight in Wlad style. That would be my advice to him.

Maidana

Reach: 70ins

I can see Khan having success by firing quick jabs through the middle when Maidana launches his looping shots. But when he does so, his big ass Reebok glove better be covering that chin and temple.

 

Think this is gonna be 1 hell of an entertaining fight (for as long as it lasts). Heart wants Maidana to wipe the floor with Con BUT my head says Amir is gonna keep the distance and try for the UD. I dnt believe he can KO Maidana....

Khan's reach is usually given as 72ins AFAIK.

Couple of inches is a definite advantage......especially if you box like Amir has learned to under Roach.

 

Less fascinating after that Kotelnik fight, everyone assumes Alexander will get slapped around for 12.

Khan-Maidana is moar interesting, in terms of styles and physical matchups imo.

 

Khan made a mistake of going to Prescotts body from the get go thats when he was caught flush he wont make that mistake against Maidana. Khan's gonna pummel him with head shots for as long as it lasts

I have been very torn about this fight.

I mean he was wobbled by a jab. Im just not sure he has the chin to compete at teh top level. He also swells easily. Malignaggi had him pretty busted up and he has no power.

When Maidana lands something big will Khans face hold up? And i think people really sleep on Maidanas speed. Its deceiving. He is much faster than Urango and just as powerful.

Power is not the only thing swells the face up. In Khan's case against Malignaggi it was the forearms and elbows that were doing the damage against Khan due to Malignaggi's awkward style.

 

I think people overestimate both guys. Maidana has not proven he's a huge puncher. At least not in the sense of one-punch power. He gave Ortiz a beatdown, but even that was deceiving. He did that for the simple fact that he was tougher than Ortiz. He had to pick his butt up on the floor a few times to get that win, and Ortiz didn't have the toughness to do the same. But by no means did Maidana K Ortiz TFO. He just made Ortiz quit.

At the same time, Kahn still has the big Q about his ability to take any kind of punch at all. We know Mali throws pillows. But Mali can also box very well, and Kahn made him look pretty average. Kahn is clearly the superior boxer and therefore I would tend to favor him. I usually tend to believe that the phrase "punchers chance" is code for "needs to get lucky to win". In this case though, it means a little more because of Kahn's history.

 

This is simply not true. The first jab that Prescott landed made Khan adjust his feet, he wasn't wobbled by it. He was wobbled by the left hook a few seconds later.

Btw the guy that beat Prescott for the first time (Vazquez) really was put down by a jab. Is he a glass jaw too?

 

I dont know if he has a glass jaw but he's a damn good fighter.

 

This is kind of humorous because Breidis Prescott only needed one jab to make Khan's legs do the funky chicken dance.

Also...I think everyone knows that Khan is going to hit Maidana in this fight. Do you mean to imply that all the people who think Maidana will win think he'll win without being so much as touched by Khan's jab?

He involuntarily did the Ali shuffle. Sure, he adjusted his feet--because his brain momentarily lost contact with them. If you've seen Khan when he's been hurt before, you know that that reaction was one of 'I've been momentarily rocked by a jab.'

And then came the left hook and right hand. But that jab DID momentarily wobble him. Not a good indication.
