Excellent read and great quotes from Bellew:

On his previous career in kick boxing he said:

" .....my coach recommended I take up boxing after I was disqualified for landing KO punches, twice running. The kickboxing was a glorified game if tig. It wasnt until I started boxing that I realised what a real contact sport was".....

Boxing needs good talkers that can help them draw in fans and hype up fights. Along with Bellew's explosive fighting style and concussive power, he a big ticket seller from a great fight city, Liverpool. Perhaps he could emerge as the next big boxer with a huge following - I am not saying as big as Ricky Hatton but he has the ingredients to be big....

why didn't you move to Thailand then?

I'm trying to find Bren Foster's "Travelling Warrior" dvd I see he went to Thailand and took part in full contact MuayThai.

ah right...that explains it. i've only trained in muaythai so wasn't aware you could do competitive semi-contact kickboxing.

at least it got you into boxing though!

As long as he doesn't try and emulate caveman Huck he should be fine. Always skeptical about someone with a kickboxing background though, those habits are hard to kick (no pun intended).

I stopped when I was 14 mate so the effects of that game are long gone.. I was also never the best with my legs, It was always my right hand that got me points and disqualified a few times..;) It served it's purpose at the time and Im happy as I met some people through that sport who I still have as friends to this day so it wasn't all bad.

Couldn't be doing that Muaythai stuff though, The kicking and coming together of shins goes right through me to be honest, I have a friend who is brilliant at it and he teaches my son but it's the closest I'd ever get to it..:good
