The fact that I was mimicking you is obviously lost on you then?? So what does that say about you?? :huh
In his prime he threw loads of jabs to disrupt his opponent, set up his opponent, get inside and do his work, do you idiots actually watch boxing? Or know the importance of a jab even to a short pressure fighter. You come across as completely ignorant to the technical aspects of the sport with this statement, but what a surprise from a Dempsey denialist atsch
janitor it is fine to say that for his time, Dempsey could possibly be a better fighter. But in real life we can all see how primitive those times were, Dempsey would be destroyed easily. The reality is that he was a champion in a primitive era, a champion of only really North America and a champion who drew the colour in a sport that has always been dominated by blacks. Fighting against the colour line, Langford was the best of his time still, and Jack Johnson was the best of his. And the rest from then on is black history. You seem to be a level headed, intelligent guy so i dont really understand where you get these ideas that Dempsey could beat Tyson
Look, you're calling people idiots and denialists, but you should check yourself first. You say Dempsey only threw 5 jabs his whole career, but you simply have to watch his fights on youtube to be able to count dozens of his jabs that have been caught on film. You say Dempsey threw all his hooks wide, but again, if you bother to watch the films you'll see he threw dozens of compact hooks. Likewise, if you're comparing to Tyson, it's easy to criticize Tyson for winging in some crazy wide shots too. It's easy to criticize almost any aggressive puncher on that count at some time or other. This content is protected This content is protected
BLACK BLACK BLACK BLACK BLACK - do you have anything else to add?? It's quite clear what the real problem is here then??
More "compact" punching from Tyson ..... This content is protected Tyson would sure never throw any wide punches that might leave him open to counters ....
Tyson could swing wide but not nearly as much as Dempsey and his first punch was rarely as wild as Dempsey's first punch. The times he was wild/wide his explosive speed meant he often got away with it
I love how you can call 'reverse racism' on the racist times Dempsey's management took full advantage of to avoid the best fighters like Greb and Tunney
Tunney wasn't really rated any higher than the others Dempsey had fought. He was rated about the same as Gibbons had been rated. Dempsey came off a 2-year lay-off to beat Gibbons, which is worthy of credit in its own right, but he came off another 3-year lay-off against Tunney and was useless. Of course Tunney was a bit better than Greb. All those years out of the ring ruined any chance Dempsey had of beating a top flight fighter. There's nothing else to it.
