Which were you the most upset with and really feeling badly because a boxer lost a fight for something he did wrong?

Me, it would have to be Ike 'Bazooka' Quartey vs Oscar De La Hoya... I always saw DLH as being hyped... Well, Quartey was exposing him, he had a great jab, very good defense, and was simply outboxing DLH imho... I had him in front in the fight. But then, late in the fight, he gets hurt by a punch, and instead of backing off, taking some time to regroup himself, he decides to start throwing bombs while he's dazed... Which resulted in him getting more hurt, then knocked down, automatically losing the round, and ultimately the fight..

    Judge: Ken Morita 116-112
    Judge: John Keane 116-113
    Judge: Larry O'Connell 114-115

Sigh... He should have won that fight, he had won it!!! If you're hurt, don't open yourself and try to end the fight with bombs while you're hurt!!! It's the worst time to go for a knockout...

Then the better fighter would have won, and the De La Hoya balloon would have deflated earlier in his career...

My god, looking at that fight again, 2nd round, Quartey was continually stalking DLH, tagging him with his jab, blocking DLH's shots, making him miss... Man... This fights hurts :| Bazooka should never have lost that fight...

Quartey got put on his ass twice and nearly decapitated in the 12th.

It was a close fight, HARDLY a robbery.

Try DLH-Trinidad or DLH-Mosley II, now those were **** decisions.

But got put on his ass in the 12th because he decided to throw bombs instead of taking his time and getting his head/legs back under him...

That's the point of this thread, had he not done that, he'd have been knocked down only ONCE in the sixth, which rather a flash KO if I remember correctly, and then could have gone to win the 12th round, to then win the decision or get a draw, and then probably a rematch had he not won by the scorecards (which he might not have either way... blind judges!)

Instead, he lost the fight, then faced and lost to steroids Vargas, and disappeared from the boxing scene for 5 years, probably bitter about his Hoya loss and Steroids Vargas... Hoya which he lost because he decided to exchange while hurt in the last round, and then Vargas because he was on steroids...

See the pattern? It's the little things which makes a huge difference... Small mistakes which have a huge effect down the road... And it hurts so much when it's such a plain obvious error on a boxer's part which sets it all off... That's pretty much the point of this thread.

De La Hoya fans could say it was him running away in his Trinidad fight and losing the fight on points because of that...

Arthur Abraham in his fight against Dirrell. I saw the fight with my buddies and we all felt that Abraham was gonna get the knock out in the 12th, because Dirrell looked like he was tired. We all felt that one punch from Abraham to the face of Dirrell, would knock him out cold, and it certainly did, but unfortunately that was while he was on the floor.

Actually, in the 6th round, it wasn't even a flash knockdown, Quartey was off balance. Then in that same round, Quartey put Hoya on his ass with a perfect left hook to the jaw, same punch that DLH put him down in the 12th...

So... yeah, DLH knocked down QT in the 6th, but he also got knocked down himself. I still had Quartey winning, even with the last round... http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=250037

Quartey's jab was just too good, he was the aggressor, blocked or made DLH miss most of his shots (ton were on his arms/gloves or in the air). He got robbed, if only this had not been in Las Vegas...

Now I want to watch his fight vs Vargas... heh

Im not old enough to remember that fight, but I gotta admit that the Lewis fans that witnessed the fight, probably felt like somebody stabbed a knife into their hearts, cause that is by far one of the biggest robberies in the history of boxing.

I'm not that emotional about boxers loosing fights but:

Dempsey in his last fight:). Oh wait, I read the other guy deliberately waited the count, so it wouldn't make a difference. So if we are on waiting the count, maybe Zab Judah vs Tszyu. Why not wait the count, just for tactical reasons, but no, you have to be cocky idiot and stand up after "one" and make material for comedians from yourself.

Also Vitali agaisnt Byrd. I know health comes first, but still, couldn't he just do nothing and lose 3 rounds?

Sigh.. As I said in another post, even if he looked like a clown and was dizzy and fell down a second time while the ref was at the 4th or 5th count... Damn you ref, wait till the 10 count to see if a fighter can continue or not...

That was bad luck on Judah's part I believe, he simply wasn't aware that he had been hurt... And he was OK at the 10 count... Ok, so it was Judah's mistake, BUT, it was a bad call by the ref IMHO, which wasn't Judah's fault. Hell, some other fighters wait till the 9 count to get to their feet, and the ref, because they didn't get up at 8 stops the fight... You can never win with those damn refs and judges :nut

i was mad at Hopkins recent losses. neither seemed like a way to lose a championship. if it's your title, shouldn't your opponent have to take it from you instead of have it given to him. and dirrell vs. froch was horrible. had dirrell stopped running, he could've whipped froch's ass. dawson vs. pascal was annoying. why was pascal wearing pink and why was dawson losing to someone wearing pink and he had condom depot on his but. was this a gay rights fight? nothing against homosexuality, but in the ring?

James Toney Vs Sam Peter 1.

Toney didn't need to take this fight, he was WBC Mandatory. He really beat Peter 8 rounds to 4. Got robbed and Peter went on to beat Toney decisively in the rematch. And then Peter beat Oleg Maskaev for WBC title.

nullpoint your ****ing annoying. This is the second time today you've made a long thread disrespecting oscar and taking all the credibility of his win of Ike away from him. Uli said it right, oscars late comeback won him a close fight that could've had a rematch because it was controversial. It didn't happen, now get over it and stop making threads about it
