LOL it took all of 1 round before he got submitted...i thought he might have thrown a punch atleast....he was like a dying whale lying on the ground gasping for air.... Im actually a Toney fan....but after seeing him at the weigh in....i just lost hope....
He looked like a beached whale flailing about when he was on the floor, it was pathetic. Definitely the first, and last MMA fight I will watch.
He fought by MMA rules so all of his boxing experience couldn't really help him overall in the cage. At the end, he knew he was facing a veteran and made himself look very bad by calling Dana White out to do this fight. I still can't believe people even bought the PPV lol.
Nobody gave him a chance to begin with.. Dana bought James because he's a big talker and a name... he knew he had no chance.. he weighed 70lbs over his prime weight getting in the octagon tonight.. no ****ing way he had a chance.
Toney did not making boxing look bad. This was not a boxing match. He reinforced the obvious. A boxer is much less likely to succeed in MMA if he relies on his boxing skills alone. Yes, a boxer can beat an MMA fighter, but the odds aren't in his favour if his ground skills are non-existent. Boxing is a great sport and even though I've been more of an MMA fan as of late, this fight had nothing to do the superiority of one sport over the other.
It was both a tragic spectacle, somewhat akin to Joe Louis' escapades in the wrestling ring and a damning indictment of UFC. Of course Dana White wanted to attract boxing fans to MMA with a crossover name, but what we witnessed was a pitifully conditioned and hopelessly outclassed athlete get robbed of his dignity by an over-the-hill barroom tough guy. Sickening to watch him get pounded while being pinned down.
i dont get the whole time they kept saying james was the first boxer to come over, trying to get everyone to forget about mercer. But yea James was hilariously bad in that fight.
No he didn't. Like I said from way back (check my post history) who cares, really? It's a win-no lose situation for Toney (and Boxing...for some reason) and a lose-lose situation for that MMA guy.
