    Also on that note Anderson Silvia wanted to get in the ring with RJJ, And Dana White was too afraid he'd look bad and refused to let the bout happen.

    For about the 20th time I'll say. It was a win-no lose situation for James Toney (and Boxing...for some reason) while it was a lose-lose situation for the MMA fighter. If he wins, who cares? He was fighting an old, fat man. If he lost...well, I don't think I really need to explain.

    I agree with this. I said from the first day this fight was announced that it was a pointless mismatch, and so it proved.

    MMA fighters should fight MMA fighters, boxers should fight boxers, and then we won't get pointless mismatches like Couture-Toney.

    If we are going by 1990's weights as "natural" then Couture is a natural 190, and that is without 24 hours to cut, so he would have been about 160-170 with the 24 hours to put weight back on after weigh in's.

    Coutures chin is shot and he is 47.

    Any other excuses?

    Respect? no thanks. But i will thank him for one thing, showing boxing fans how boring MMA is, he didnt even attempt to throw a punch standing.... take a risk, excite the crowd, it amazes me how people can watch such dyer crap.

    He chased the fight down to represent boxing??? :rofl

    No, he ****ing didn't. That was the way the fight was marketed. Do you actually think Toney did this for boxing's sake??? :roll:

    He did it for a paycheck. :deal

    Again, Toney hunted for this fight. . . i dont care about the downward spiral that hit him in boxing. He asked for the fight, he got it, talked maddd ****, and got beat down.



    A boxer has 1 single chance. Land that punch or get owned. I already stated that a boxers chances are SO slim that we cant even call it a chance. Could it happen? yea. . . is it likely? no!!!!

    Sylvia is not or never was a rounded MMA fighter. He sprawled and was a striker. And by the time Mercer got him, he was a tuna can with shot knees. Please dont try to make anything big of that fight.



    NO!!!! But boxers and fans of boxing needs to realize that it takes years of training to go into MMA and compete. Boxing does **** for you if you can defend and react against the other 87% of technique that makes up MMA.

    give us a list :rofl



    We will see what happens with Noons. . . he will be the first. But let me know when an ELITE MMA fighter wins a significant belt in boxing.

    And please, just dont try to bring Jeremy Williams into this argument lol

    You havent seen many of Toney's interviews have you? Even though we all know the true motivation was money, these are still the words that came out of Toneys mouth.

    :huh Not an excuse its an obseravtion he was a natrurally larger man who did what took the fat washed up blob to the ground and submitted him. The excuse is the MMA fans trying to make this out as some sort of accomplishment... and couture being washed up that 47 year old was your champion till what a year and a half ago and has gone 3-1 since his loss to lesnar and hasnt been ko'd since so when was it his chin became shot to shitt?

    anyone can get whatever they want out of this embarresment of a fight, says more about the former then the latter :lol:

    that wasnt boxing vs mma lol, anyone with any intelligence and knowledge knew this. It was a fat old man who was too shot to compete in his own sport being set up as a fall man, because not only is he fat old and shot, he was one of the few boxers too stupid and ignorant to actually take his mma training time seriously, and desperate/dumb enough to put himself in that position.
