    then just say that.

Dont go in there claiming to represent boxing. . . and then proceed to talk 9 months of **** just to get put to sleep in under 2 minutes.

MMA remained respectful towards boxing throughout, I have no ill will against Couture for winning a fight everyone assumed he would.

ya everyone is entitled to their own opinions, mine personally is i really beleive a prime mma artist can last longer in a ring with a prime boxer rather than the other way around... he can just clinch tie up all night long throw a few jabs here n there or jsut run around like a ***** lol ... in mma well the boxer can run away like a little ***** as well but still has plenty more to watch out for and cant simply clinch and hold on since the mma dude can drag his ass to the mat u know waht i mean?? .. either way i love both sports i dont care really as long as its good and enterntaining and technical i love tactical battles sure the KO's are badass but i love when the minds are at work as well makes it more interesting to me at least

1st - Ill give Randy respect, always have, always will.

2nd - You should shut up even thinking that this fight has anything to do with boxing vs mma. The fact that you cant see what this fight really is, is a testament to your incompetence. Truth.

3rd - MMA guys arent dumb enough to step into the ring?
Can that be any dumber of a blank statement?

    Jens Pulver ring a bell?
    Vitor Belfort ring a bell?
    Yves Edwards ring a bell?
    Mark Hunt ring a bell?
    Tre Telligmen ring a bell?
    :patsch
    ill stop there.

another thing i get a kick out of...

MMA isnt FIGHTING any more then thai boxing or any other combat sport is. I get a kick out of moronic mma fans who think watching UFC is some sort of raw pro street fighting. Its nothing more then a controlled combat sport, with various more options then others, leading to its own science being attributed to it. All the triangle chokes and cameras in the world wouldnt mean **** if im fishhooking your cheek off your face or gouging your eyes out, that is REAL fighting, that is RAW fighting. THAT is survival of the fittest.

All the science (and anyone who doesnt think there is a science to mma is simply ignorant) of mma is only there and effective DUE to the restrictions put on it. Just like Toney at his prime use of the sweet science was only effective due to the restrictions put on the combat he was engaging in.

MMA is not 'real fighting'

Many of you are so ignorant about MMA. Calling Couture's takedown a "bum rush" or "diving in". That was a beautifully executed low single that should be appreciated by anyone who watches fights of any kind.

Even worse are all the sour grapes "Couture should fight Toney in a boxing match now" B.S.. Yeah because Couture disrespected boxing and challenged everyone, or did I miss something?

I sware after reading the garbage on this forum tonight, I may have lost at least 15 IQ points.

This is ******ed. Toney was representing his bank account. Anyone with a single brain cell would know a boxer would be at a disadvantage in UFC cos' in ain't their sport, there are different rules. Anyone who compares them or uses this fight to claim any sort of superiority is genuinely ******ed.
btw wow James Toney talked ****!?! That's one of the signs of the apocalypse, I hear.
Randy won ****. Dana White raped you all. Like those cavemen chanting "U.F.C!" during the fight. This **** is meaningless.

If your going to tell the story get it right they made a gentlemens agreement to box not kick box after it was sanctioned as an MMA fight well first thing silva does is kick Mercer was like WTF then caught silva coming in and was layed out.

All of that was allowed in the early stages of Value Tudo, which became MMA.

It didn't matter, the triangle chokes still worked like a charm.

MMA is not a pure street fight; there have however been MMA like fights with no rules whatsoever, just two guys fighting with no weapons; largely similar results to modern MMA.

So no, its not a perfect replica of a street fight, but it is the closest there is.

I believe the gentlemen's agreement was for kickboxing, maybe not, but either way, he wasn't prepared for an MMA fight.

Props to Mercer though, he still had to do the job.

Hard to say like i said you still would have to get inside no easy task with his reach. Not saying it would or would not happen just that there really can be no forgone conclusion.

    I prefer boxing to MMA
But denying boxing needs less skill is funny...
Mayweather would need MORE skills to be an MMA champ.

    Wow...
