I don't think Ugas will be a welter, he'll move down in weight to make his mark. But he's known to be chinny in the amateur cirquit so I'm hesitant to predict him to be a big star.

Even here in England, where there are not many Cubans, we know about him.

    Que descanse en paz.

Even great fighters from the past have lost by knockout, and still have been all time greats. Ugas has been dropped in the amateurs yes, but that does'nt mean that he will get KO'ed in the pros constantly. It's always possible that maybe he will lose by KO or TKO some time in his pro career when he faces very stiff competition but it's just a " maybe ". And even if he does, no big deal, just bounce back and keep on winning. :bbb

His skills is what caught my attention, very fast hands, tremendous accuracy and punching power as well. He got hit twice in his chin hard against his last opponent and he did'nt even moved, so I don't know about his so called " weak chin ", only time will tell.

But definitely, Ugas will be great in the pros. He should fight in the Welterweight division, that's the most famous division in boxing besides the HV's... :good

The good news is that punch resistance can be improved. Ugas is now having proper nutritioning plus his body grew since his last shaky fight (at about 21), so the chin issue might not be that big after all. Like I said, time will tell, just like what weigh he'll be fighting at, but IMO he looks comfortable at 147, no need to drain himself with no reason. Gamboa is fighting well over his Olympic weight and it's no problem for him.

Totally true, all Cuban athletes don't have proper nutrition. I agree, Ugas looked stronger now in the pros and his shaky chin issue might not be a big problem after all...

He is a natural Welterweight, no need to move him up or down. :good

Actually Gamboa fought at 126 in his last 2 years as an amateur.

I understood you perfectly well. It was misleading though, wouldn't you agree?

Okay, we're not gonna have an argument about it. Point is: he looks comfortable at 147, but 140 could be his class, we'll see. He just needs to stay busy both in the ring and in the gym. Don't know who brought him to John David Jackson, but that was a truly excellent idea.

Anyway, here's a small docu on Ugas, shot a while back before he left Cuba:
