If Kessler does have to retire because of this (I have a hunch that he will), what a last fight he gave us to remember him with.

Sure Kessler v Froch wasn't a technical master class, but such entertaining fights at the top level don't come around all that often.

I don't blame Ward and neither do Kessler... But to say the guy is not a warrior is ****ing disrespectful... Kessler never was a quitter :deal

Shows how much of a muppet you are with that silly quote.
Calzaghe was 36 and at the end of his career.
Kessler was a better fighter then.
Kessler had been active before meeting Calzaghe, not just 4 rounds in 13 months.
Kessler was undefeated when Calzaghe beat him.
Now we know Kessler had problems late in his career and we know that in his fight after Ward he was having medical probs.
Ward used the head to assist in his victory, Calzaghe didnt.

I hope Kessler gets fully recovered, and if he decides to come back, fights Ward at a neutral venue where headbutts and constant holding are rightfully not aloud.
It says something that Dirrell is American and dosent want to fight Ward in Jokeland

I've been a fan of Kessler since the start, got the majority of his fights as well.

the guy has had problems with injuries, he's had operations to his hands and I believe he's had to get pins put in, he's also needed an operation to his elbow, now the issue with the eye, I was ****ing devasted when the news broke, because I thought he was going to get back to his best.

If you notice after the Calzaghe fight and the fights he fought after that, Kessler never threw one of those right uppercuts that he use to throw.

His eye injury must have something to do with his last 3 performance. I remember against Perdomo that he was throwing punches that simply weren't connecting.

Now I know what the issue was.

I hope he comes back and is 100% fit, if not then he should leave it and retire. The guy hung his balls out against Froch, especially in the 12th where he went for it, showed his warrior heart, but his health comes 1st, he will be remembered a very good boxer with good technical skills and a 3 time world unified champion.

a true gent and I've yet to meet anyone who has a bad word to say about him. I remember Froch's mam saying similar.

First of all:Kessler was injured before he fought Ward...
And Kessler has NEVER mentioned Ward as an excuse for the injury!!!
It´s ridiculous to read some of the quotes in this thread!!!
This is about Kesslers career and NOT about Ward.....

Mikkel fought with NO complaints what so ever,in California he was cut 3 times because of headbutts and NEVER complained to the referee....

So too all the Kessler haters: What are you crying about???

Whether it was intentional or not does not matter when the action was reckless and illegal. Having said that Ward mearly exaggerated the problem that Kessler had been suffering from, Kessler's camp have already stated this if i remember rightly.:good

Some posters sounds like Kessler already retired! He is just taking a rest, and he will be back! If it was all over for him he would have said it.
9 months +/- ffs its about the same time it takes for Mayweather or Haye to pick their next opponent! Dont worry, he will be back again sooner than you think!

this kind of injury can be fixed. we'll just have to wait and see what happens. hopefully kessler's able to make a full recovery.

Kessler needs to retire. Like Calzaghe he got a lot of easy fights, made a lot of money and now has no where else to go but to fight superior opposition. The free ride is over, so it's time to hang the well managed and limited skills glove set up.
Good luck to Kessler and let's hope he stays away from the nose candy and doesn't hang out with over-hyped crack head, Calzaghe.
