So if Couture fought Toney in the parking lot he wouldn't be able to take him down? The streetfight doesn't have to start with a punch. Toney never even had a chance to throw a punch and he was down.
AMEN!! You just said a mouthful, and what every TRUE boxing fan feels about this boring, rolling around on the ground garbage. The sooner this fad fades away, the better the fistic world will be!
He might of done just that, but when Toney hit the ground. Toney could tried to stuck a finger in his eye or bite his arm on the ground. Street fighting is a whole nother ball game in itself. Randy would be the obvious favorite in a MMA event, and Toney in a boxing ring. A street would be a area where both men are a little foreign in. I guess whoever gets off first wins.
You are an idiot. Couture is not a "big natural heavyweight" he fought a lot of his career at Light Heavy at 205. You say Toney is a natural 160? Well at the time Toney was fighting at 160 Couture was wrestling at 190, with same day weigh-ins; so if he had 24 hours after weigh-ins to rehydrate, like Toney had when he was boxing, he would have been very close to 160. Learn what the **** you are talking about before you try, you uneducated piece of ****.
Such bull****, you think giving Randy more options and less rules is going to help Toney? The whole problem was a lack of rules for Toney. You allow eye gouging and headbutts, its Couture in the dominant position to do those things before he eventually finishes the fight the exact same way. Your stupid ass thought Kimbo was going to be a good MMA fighter.
man ur a ****ing moron!! thats not what i said.. clean ur eyes...couture 220 plus of muscle... toney 240 of lard.. THATS WHAT IM SAYING...COUTURE didnt have love handles, u****ing nimrod, so quit trying to justify the weight difference..
Real men try to win fights. Couture made Toney his *****, and I must admit that Toney has good tits. Boxers are scared to fight properly.
Damn, all this time I thought I was a true boxing fan, but it turns out I`m not because I am also a big MMA fan :verysad
The guy on top has way more opportunities for using "dirty" moves than the guy on the bottom. Also, on concrete the guy that can throw his opponent down has a big advantage. One of my old coaches always says "nothing hits you harder than the ground", and if you've ever been thrown by a really good wrestler or judo player you'd agree.
Whether he was 240lbs of lard or 220lbs of muscle, conditioning had nothing to do with this. A boxer doesn't know anymore how to defend that low single ankle pick anymore than a pure wrestler does a left hook. Whether he would have trained or not it takes years to learn defensive wrestling techniques(underhooks, whizzers, etc.) to stay up in a sport such as MMA.
It proved that a good boxer with "low to almost zero" will most likely get beaten in MMA. Randy even explained that he had trained to use that take down that is so low that it "can't be caught by an uppercut".
It proved that a boxer can also beat an MMA guy in his own game. No one is making any excuses for Tim.
Hah hah. Yes, it's just a "fad". How long has this fad been around for now? How many extremely successful PPVs has this "fad" had? And the TRUE boxing fans are the ones who have open minds, and can enjoy both MMA and boxing without resorting to the usual stupid arguments like it's just two guys rolling around on the ground. Zakman, you exhibit your ignorance on a daily basis in the boxing forum. Don't bring it in here.
