nothing new , boxing has its flaws but at the same time he willingly sighed the contract that stated he would not fight khan yet so its all his fault , khan and roach know theyll bow circles around this fool but the wanted an easier fight for us debut and now will fight him or jmm
It's not about what you THINK will happen, it's about it actually happening. This isn't about me thinking Maidana could beat Khan because I don't. It's about Maidana being his mandatory and being on his 3rd defence of a joke of a belt.
I agree totally but it's something that's part and parcel of the farce that is the World Boxing Association.
It is important that in any way we can we hold them to account. Fans need to realise they have a voice. The power is ALWAYS with the people - how else would revolutions fell dictatorships! Boxing has numerous examples of major orgs like Sky giving in to our demands.
Boxing is losing popularity due to instances such as these. There needs to be one governing body, fair judging, accountable judging, and a desire to rid the sport of the corruption which has literally brought the sport down to its knees. In an era of greater visibility, boxing is still stuck in the stone ages in terms of being accessible and marketing itself to younger fans.
Seriously though, the fans and TV stations could address the alphabet issue if we really wanted to but I'm past caring now - I pay little attention to the belts. When the WBO stripped Martinez it was like "that's dumb" and then it was forgotten. He's clearly the middleweight champion.
Same here and I know Flea takes the same attitude. We realistically can't do much about it but it only bothers you if you acknowledge it.
I didn't realise which Martinez you meant until I got to the middleweight part. That just proves how much attention I pay to the alphabets. I could be wrong here, but didn't Sky put The Ring rankings up at some point last season?:think It would be awesome if they did that regularly. On the other hand, they did help market Katsidis-Mitchell as for the all-important 'WBO interim title' as well:roll:.
The major American networks only use Ring rankings and HBO haven't mentioned the alphabets by name in a long time.
the wba is a money making machine and will continue to get away with it while fighters and promoters agree to pay sanctioning fees for sometimes being one of three WBA world champions at a weight (interim, regular and super!)
All the alphabet boys are money making machines! Do you really think any of them are here for the betterment of the sport? Admittedly the WBA are the worst because of their multi-champion crap, but the others do just as many bollocks things.
