I have to admit I think its more likey than I did a couple of weeks ago. I was hoping the delay in announcing Hayes next fight was to make sure Adamek got past Grant.

I can think of half a dozen opponents I'd rather Haye then Harrison but none besides the Klits, which isn't going to happen next, are that exciting that I'm going to get too upset if they don't get a fight ahead of Harrison.

If Haye takes a couple of soft defences and then fights Wlad in 2011 then I've got no major problems with that. The way some people are talking you'd think Haye was doing something that no boxer in history had done before when in truth it happens all the time.

Yep, thats a real shame when that happens. Camacho-Chavez should have been a classic fight in 1983 at 122lbs but instead we got it in 1992 at 140 when Camacho didn't stand much of a chance.

Gaz, who was holding the WBC featherweight title at the same time McGuigan held the WBA and, for whatever reason, the fight never materialised?

Azumah Nelson, Pat Cowdell was also chasing McGuigan using the "UK" angle to try and get a title fight around that time, similar to the current Haye/ Harrison situation.

Cheers. Did those fights not happen because McGuigan lost or for other reasons?

Cowdell didn't happen (IMHO) because he didn't have the high profile or exciting style so McGuigan had to fight him. He was fairly easy for McGuigan to ignore and it wasn't as if Barry was costing himself a big payday by not taking the fight.

Nelson wanted McGuigan bady and was always in the boxing press stating his case but again, outside of the hardcore fans, there was little pressure on Barry to take the fight from the general press.

McGuigan said he wanted a few defences then Nelson, the idea I think was to crack America with the Irish support and fight Nelson somewhere down the line. Then Stevie Cruz threw all those plans out of the window.
