Because being the best striker means being the best at striking, with all parts of the body, not being the best boxer.

A boxing ref wouldn't be best pleased when a thai fighter grabs the boxers neck and knees his nose inside out.

You can tell me why you think...but you'd be wrong.

Nobody tries to strike with boxers because boxers will only let them box against them. The best overall strikers are the more well rounded strikers that utilize all the available tools. This tends to be Muay Thai fighters.

And Muay Thai fighters go into boxing? You're really not thinking about this at all. They can't. Boxing simply isn't available where they are. They're in Thailand! Muay Thai is the sport. And of course after they learn Muay Thai they're not going to go into boxing (statistically speaking, there may be some random anomoly) because they would be limited to something that would require them to leave out many of the techniques and skills they developed over years of training that made them great strikers to begin with. That, and when you just box rather then Thai fight the dynamics change drastically.

    Thinking. It helps.

Boxing, the art of punching, teaches better punching and punching avoidance? Wow! I'm shocked! This is ground breaking news! You better go tell everybody.

Not really to argue, just pointing out one of those who did do MT and Boxing at championship level.

Yup, I assumed someone had to have done it, which is why I didn't make it a blanket statement. Hence my caveat.

Is that why there are a bunch of nobodys from America going to thailand on an experiment trying out Muay Thai and beating the **** outta people with only a month of training? You would never see that **** in professional boxing brother.

What world are you talking about where someone can train in Muay Thai and beat the best Thai fighters after a month?

It's not happening in boxing and it's not happening in Muay Thai either.

Stop putting boxing on a pedestal.

Proper training? Wouldn't boxing be enough? It's so good according to you, you shouldn't need anything else!

    And "pro"? Hmmm...I said best.

It would be enough, offensively. He would still need to seriously modify his fighting style defensively.

Quit talking like MT is some impossible nut to crack. It is just a style. Get enough looks and you can deal with it.

Now take that same logic and apply it to boxing...

    :patsch:lol::roll:

I guess you usually post on sherdog, huh?

I find the ESB MMA forum to be the best place to discuss MMA, because the majority understand and respect BOTH sports, unlike the general forum boxing fans here and you sherdog chodes.

Excuse me, did you just cite the inuries that fighters sustain in Thai boxing as evidence that it is a better sport than boxing? Congratulations, you're perpetuating the popular belief that MMA fans are meatheads who would rather see someone get beaten to a pulp than witness a skillful controlled-combat bout.

Boxing is dead? Right, that's why the world's best MMA fighters seek out boxing coaches to assist them with their striking.

Oh, and there are plenty of Muay Thai fighters that fight boxers in the ring. Aussie fighters often pad their records with them. It's ludicrous and you're a fool.

Yea and Shaq boxed competitvely with DLH, right?

It was a "reality" show, the Thai guy was nobody and still went easy.
