Seconded. Right or wrong, considering how some of these dudes have grown up, it would be difficult to criticise them for taking quick money. Jobs offering quick cash in ASDA and HMV aren't waiting for every teenager in Pakistan. Also, we have no idea of the complete circumstances either; for all we know, people could have been threatened.

Everyone should just hold fire for the time being, IMO. Pakistan have played some great cricket at times on this tour, so I find it hard to believe that players have been throwing matches willy nilly; for the time being, it seems all of the elements that have been set-up are pretty minor.

Cricket is awesome. You're missing out, NO MAS.

 

For what it's worth, I had a pissed up conversation with a taxi driver. He was Pakistani and said how cricket in Pakistan is effective run by the Mafia (his words). He also said the people involved Butt, Akmal, Asif and Amir are arrogant pricks.

I do agree the bad light laws are pathetic. They should only be going off if its genuinely getting very dark, they are such ****ing pussies these days. The idea is you go off when its dangerous, more so for the fielding side because they can't see the ball coming at them, the batsman have pads for ****s sake. It was proven the fielding side should have problems when its too dark before the batsman do in Karachi when England famously won.

They go off when its still perfectly playable and don't even get me started on the 'shadows'...what bellends. There should be a light meter reading that is applicable world wide, once it goes below that they go off to avoid this confusion of umpires arbitrarily deciding what they think is right or not. I don't see how one light reading in Jamaica is different to one in London but the illogical ****s at the ICC obviously don't comprehend that.

Light laws are outdated. Back when there were no lights, helmets, protective gear etc. then fair enough, there was a significant chance of harm coming to a batsmen. Nowadays none of that really applies.

 

At the end of the day they have a duty to TV and to the paying public to play cricket and that means continuing through fading light and drizzle.

As far as I'm concerned bad light should be a thing of the past because all test grounds should have lights, most do, they should be put on with enough time to supplement the fading light to ensure the full allocation of overs are bowled.

If that means bringing in the pink ball too all the better. It has to be more luminous than the red ball.

 

Don't worry, fellas, when day/night Tests eventually start there will be a whole new outlook on using lights during Test matches:yep. The ICC seems to (finally) be warming more and more to the 'if technology is there, use it' school of thought.
