The fact that Toney is allowed to fight even though already having trouble speaking (a clear sign of brain damage) show you how sick this sports( mma and boxing) are and that the athletic commissions and doctors are just puppets of this huge economic interests. Toney was a great, great fighter but its time to retire. Props to Couture for an awesome perfomance. Im a Toney and boxing fan ,Im new to MMA, this fight just showed me how great this MMA fighters are. In a street fight this MMA guys will beat Boxer 97% of the time.

in a street fight toney would have much more of a chance, eg. biting, eye gouging, head butts, all that good stuff. mma just favors the wrestling types.

Oh, I love this nonsense. You hear it so often, too.

Like these magical techniques are only available to one of the people in a street fight and not the other. Incredible.

James, you are not the heavyweight champ of the world hor have you ever been.

If James is serious, he'll fight at 185, max 205.

It will heal; look what it did for Tim Sylvia's career.

    Frankly, Toney deserves it.

Why are you on a Boxing forum, Beebs? I suppose you have the right to go where you like, but I'm curious why a guy who seemingly has no respect for the sport finds himself on a site that's entitled East Side Boxing. This doesn't compute.

What has Toney done to deserve his limbs to be ripped in half? Indulge me. Talking ****? Let's shoot Chael Sonnen. For thinking he could be competitive with Couture with limited experience in a Cage? Let's hang Brock Lesnar.

Toney was stupid, he was dealt with accordingly. All of this **** about limbs being torn off is playground talk. Grow up.

It's not growing by leaps and bounds.
    It's pretty stagnant right now.

UFC 117 which was predicted to pull in about 1mil PPV buys did about 400,000 less that number.
And that was with their other darling: Anderson Silva.

UFC needs the freakshows. Take out Brock Lesnar and you have a sport that is on life support.

Because I am a fan of boxing; came here for the classic section, stayed for the MMA and lounge.

It's a bit tounge in cheek, so calm down white knight, but Toney has completely disrespected a sport; he didn't just disrespect Couture.

He represents all the idiot boxing fans who disrespect MMA, well represented on this forum, for example, and as the physical manifestation of pure ****ish behavior, I hope he is truely humbled, along with those like him, and it's pretty hard to argue when your bone is snapped.

Talking of disrespecting a sport, I'm sure Mixed Martial Artists would be interested to hear about your suggestion of having one of them purposefully injure an opponent. Intentionally snap an arm, or a leg. I'm no expert on Mixed Martial Artists, I find it to be hit and miss as a spectacle and the characters don't interest me, but I'd be willing to bet they'd find your suggestion a bit distasteful, too.

It's all tongue and cheek? Fine. Wonderful. What makes you think Toney wasn't running his mouth more than usual to secure himself a pay day? He's gone on record to say that he respects Couture and that he likes Mixed Martial Arts. He clearly used the opportunity to get a bigger pay day he'd currently get in Boxing. He was humbled on National Television, took a few punches to the head, and was made to submit to the will of another man. He's been dealt with. It's all over now.

"Go to sleep *****, go to sleep". That is a quote from you on the night of the fight. You're a lovely man.

On getting taken down after the fight "thats what scared people do"

He continues to disrespect the sport, I really don't care why, it is intensely satisfying to see him pay for it though.

Again, he isn't alone, he is typical of a type of idiot MMA fans have had to deal with since the dawn of ****ing time.

MMA have their idiots, too. Nothing exclusive going on here, Beebs.

I'm glad we have it all in perspective now, though. Toney does indeed deserve to has his arm broken for saying, "that's what scared people do". :huh

Who were your favorite Boxers? Just out of interest.

James Toney said that he was going to break Couture's ribs. Is that classy? If you're going to dish it out, you better be able to take it I believe. With that being said, I wouldn't personally root for nay fighter to have his arms broken, but that's just me. I mean, some people admittedly watch Nascar for the crashes.
