I think it's out of Ward or Dirrel. I favour Ward as he's so well rounded but hope Dirrell wins it as he's got some amazing ability.

The thing with Ward is he's not a one trick pony- he can box very well as well as infight. Although if he tries jabbing with Dirrel to long thats gonna be a mistake. This fight is determined by how easy it is for Ward to get inside Dirrel and neutralise his speed advantage. Dirrel only started to break down late on against AA and if Ward is down on points like that he doesen't have the punch to change it. I'm going with Andre Dirrel on speed and a disciplined fight plan. Ward will have his moments though.

dirrell will school ward, mark my words. dirrell is the biggest talent in boxing, but in the final he will get knocked out this time by abraham. because dirrell despite his talent has not a champions mentality

    100% agreed.

Dirrell will shock people. I see him in final with AA. Then i predict either a Ko win for AA or a UD/SD win for Dirrell :happy

    you know your stuff:good

dirrell is imo an absolute great fighter, and i think that he is talent wise p4p top 3. but he is a little bit shaky, he is not self-confidently enough and has problems with very tough fighters (and that are aa and froch)

he can beat abraham again, but i'm very sure that aa is going to knock him out. and i'm very sure that froch would beat ward.

You overrate Dirrell badly. He has good footspeed and fast hands but technically, he's not as good as Kessler, Ward or Abraham. He just isn't a very good fighter. The way I put it a while back, is if you gave Dirrell the physical ability of Froch or Kessler, nobody would know who he is and I maintain that. He doesn't have special heart, like Froch, and he doesn't have very good boxing ability, like Kessler. He's a good fighter but "good" is about as far as I can go. He's lucky he got a second chance after the Froch fiasco and I expect to see the last of him on a big stage, after the Ward fight.

i don't know, my opinion is: i saw his fights against froch and abraham, and he has A+ footwork and speed, A+ Handspeed, very accurate, and good power. and he has a great defense. imo he is a very good fighter who will beat ward

Dirrell and Ward are definitely the two best fighters in the six, but i would never sleep on Abraham against Dirrell, simply because Dirrell can get sloppy and Abraham is a massive puncher as we know, though Dirrell just needs to finish the fight on his feet and he wins every time.

Ward wins the tourney, Dirrell the second best in the six.

Bute better than all but Ward and possibly Dirrell i feel, the division will only get more interesting once this tourney finishes for me, as there are so many unanswered questions.

    In terms of h2h ability:

    1. Ward
    2. Dirrell/Bute
    3. Abraham
    4. Kessler/Froch
    ....... the rest

Though this division has been making a fool of me so we shall see how stupid this post looks in 12 months time.

I understand that you mean this in a head to head sense, but technically Dirrell can't finish in 2nd place in the tournament unless he beats Ward and then goes on lose to the winner of Abraham-Froch.

For instance, if it plays out the way I expect, it would be basically like:

    Gold - Ward
    Silver - Abraham
Bronze - Dirrell & Froch tied

Froch will overwhelm and TKO AA while still in his lethargic not moving rounds then will beat Ward by being very dirty in retaliation to Wards tactics. The fight will involve warnings and point deductions but Ward will just not be ready to face someone rougher and dirtier than himself.

Dirrell vs Ward: Dirrel UD..........We have yet to see how ward handles speed and nobody knows how he will deal with not having a speed advantage for the first time in his pro career. I think ward will be very tentative and confused as to what he has to do. Ward hasn't been hit with anything meaningful becuase kessler and greed threw arm punches from fear of being countered they way they were all night. I think dirrell learned his lesson and will bring it to ward. I don't think ward has anything for a somewhat agressive Dirrell. The dart in BHOP style will be negated by dirrell's footspeed and lightning straight left. Ward will have to flat out box and I think he loses the boxing match with dirrell and possibly get's KOed jumping into a straight left.

Froch vs AA: Froch, UD.... I saw some real bad signs from AA's first fight against a legit SMW in dirrell. That was the fact that dirrell was knocking him around even when AA blocked his shots. I don't think AA is overwhelmingly strong at SMW. Froch and his stiff power will be doing the same thing and it never looks good to judges to be knocked off balance even when the shot is blocked. Froch also has the looping shot to go around AA's guard and stanima to keep the pressure on AA. One thing I don't think froch can do that dirrell did was go to AA's body. Dirrell put alot of pinpoint jabs and straights to AA's belly button. Bothered AA so much that he started complaining instantly at the legal punches to a point that he was ignored when he actually got hit with a low blow later in the fight. Froch doesn't have to speed to lead off like dirrell did but he should be able to mix in a body shot 3 or 4 punches into his combination. I don't think AA will have too much steam late in the fight from froch battering him. I do see froch hitting the canvas atleast 1 time from an AA straight right. Still have froch taking the UD.

    Championship

Dirrell vs Froch 2: Dirrell, KO (yeah I said KO).... I feel froch lucked out with that decision. He really landed the least powershots of anyone I've ever seen win a fight. Dirrell's gameplan was not good for fighting a champ on the road. Dirrell learned a lesson that day and that is to be agressive because people just can't deal with that much speed being agressive. I wouldn't give froch a chance to beat dirrell again. Froch couldn't even hit him when dirrell became agressive with him. If they fight again froch will not last 8

Even though we're in total disagreement, this is exactly the kind of post this thread was looking for.

There has been an awful lot of hit-and-run voting, with people not providing their breakdowns to justify their picks. :nono
