middle weight will be the best weight division in 2 years time.
the best 6 fighters will be:
    matvey korobov
    david lemiuex
    eliany golovkin
    dimitry pirog
    daniel jacobs
    elisandry lara

then theres talented fighters who may improve like:
    matthew macklin
    andy lee
    fernando guerro
    darren barker

then dont forget the junior middles that will probably move up like:
    paul williams
    shaun porter
    omar henry
    vanes morterosyan

its with out doubt the most talent packed weight class and surly the best 4 of this group will create something similar to the hearns, hagler, leanard, duran fights of the 80s and 90s!

You suck my friend, and bigtime! There are 2 P4P-ers, Martinez and Williams at 160 plus Pavlik, about a dozen of very talented youngesters ready for big things and other excellent prospects working their way up. You better start reaching for your remote because the MWs are about to take over, and you're about to eat your words! :deal

While i admire your noobish enthusiasm, you will be lucky if even two of those prospects become p4p guys.

@the don..... have you ever seen david lemieux, korobov and lara???????????????????????????? because im telling you there better than martinez, pavlik and any other middle weight already. korobov especially is a super star in the making. tell me a better prospect in the world right now except for maybe gamboa.

It'd be a great division if they dont start avoiding each other. Hopefully the two titles being held hostage in Germany can be rescued as well.

there is going to be a lot of huge fights in a couple years time. there is so much talent at mw right now. and i say talent, mind you, and not big names. the names of many of these guys will soon equal their talent. just a matter of time.

jacobs obviously needs to improve but i'm not about to trash the kid like a lot of others did b/c he got sparked out by a guy who was clearly underrated. jacobs will be fine. he's got a lot of talent...just needs to tighten up a bit.

korobov needs to step up his level of competition and test himself a bit more. he's way to good to be stagnating with regards to the level of comp he's been in there with. also, he's kind of a stocky guy isnt he? wasnt the idea of him at smw floated as well? either way i hope he stays at mw and gets in on these big fights.

its also hard to believe that in 2 years time, pirog will be 32-33. hopefully the lack of rounds he has comparable to other guys that age will mean he has more tread on his tires and can keep his level of quality up.

to be honest i think they will fight each other...... david lemieux is a throw back to old style fighters always coming forward and always throwing punches. he doesnt seem like the type to avoid people. also korobov seems tough enough to step up to the mark and weve already seen pirog vs jacobs so we know there willing to man up.

i agree its just one loss that he can learn from. im british and i support my fighters but i can reconise talent when i see it. he just realy underperformed against prirog. he needs to be way more agressive and work the jab alot more. i think korobov, lemiuex, jacobs and maybe omar henry if he moves up will be the dominant forces. havnt seen much of golovkin although i know he beat dirrell in the amateurs.

I don't know about Korobov, I think his career might be over before it started. Top Rank already dropped him, and he's starting have periods of inactivity and still fighting 6 rounders against no-hopers. At 27 with his experience and ability, he should be fighting top 20 fighters already.

We've had many threads on this topic, and yes, middleweight is heating up. I told you guys before hand that the Pirog/Jacobs fight would mark the beginning of a new era. Martinez is 35 years old, Pavlik probably can't make 160 anymore, and Paul Williams is, well, Paul Williams. God only knows what kind of crazy **** Goosen and Haymon have planned for Paul.

All these young guns look to have plenty of talent. There are several old war horses around for them to test themselves against while honing their craft. David Lopez, Mustach Rubio, Miguel Espino, Lujaun Simon, Bronco McKart, and others: Time to step up boys.
