Nate Diaz put on a clinic with his unorthodox boxing style

he fights like paul williams (sloppy) , the hand gernade had no head movement was too tight and had nooo jab , he was predictable and slow,
against a boxer or technically proficient striker he would be destroyed

 

He is sloppy as **** and gets away with it because of his height, range and timing. As soon as they face a sharper more technical foe they will be made to pay, just like Nick Diaz was when he faced Noons. The standard no frills boxer like Davis and Shamrock will get beaten up.

 

I've heard so much about Noons being so great when he got knocked out by the crack head street fighter Charles 'Krazyhorse' Bennett.

 

Will have to see that one. I like Diaz style no matter how scrappy still affective and entertaining.

They say Marcus Davis was a boxer but I was never that impressed with his stand up ability from a casual view.

 

I don't rate Noons boxing. I think he is a skillfully operator but technically Noons leaves alot to be desired. His approach is quite sharp and dynamic. Your average mixed martial artist may struggle with that.

 

He might struggle. Or he might just knock him out with a wild punch like Bennett did.

 

Charles will make anyone look good. Primarily because he's an absolute idiot. As for Diaz's peformance "meh". Iv got very little time for the Diaz brothers. I hate the whole macho bravado antics in and out of the ring. I find them painful to watch with their sloppy super overated striking. Its just ****ing abysmal.

 

He gets away with a lot of his mistakes by having a great chin. Just like his brother.

 

He didn't make Noons look good though.

 

Nate should work with Nick some more; Nick is finally putting some real power on his shots. He hurt Shamrock to the body badly, and is no longer a pitty pat fighter.

 

They're never gonna be asked to make any instructional DVD's on boxing technique, true. But it's effective....for now. As has been mentioned, their chins allow them to operate as they do now. We'll see how long that can last.

And for the record, I find them both entertaining as hell.

I'm not fan of the way the Diaz boys act, but some of of you are really going over the top. Since the first time I saw Nate fight on TUF I thought "He's going to get smashed when he fights a good boxer! He's so sloppy and wide open!". Same with his brother. You know what though? They almost always get the better of the striking in every fight they're been in. In fact, the Noons fight and the Gomi fight are the only two I can think of; I can't think of any fight where Nate gets beaten on the feet. As someone else said, it might look different when they fight someone taller and longer than they are, but most guys don't USE their height and length as well as the Daiz boys do. Sure they don't put much behind their punches, but they keep their opponents at the end of them and snap them well enough to bust up nearly everyone they fight.

As for the Davis fight, lets give some credit here. Sure Davis is past his prime and seems a step or so slower than he was a couple of years ago, but as far as punchers in the UFC go, he's got to be near the top. His boxing record is padded, but it's padded against professional boxers and a lot of his knockouts in the UFC were quick and brutal. To put him in the class of guys who don't know how to handle just an average tall opponent is nuts. For someone with his experience and skill to be owned as badly as he was the other night means that Nate Diaz knows what he's doing.

It took me a long time to finally admit that as aesthetically displeasing as I find it, his style WORKS. Who will they have to beat before people get passed how it looks? If Nate beat someone like Alves or Rumble Johnson on the feet, would that do it? I'm not saying he would, but do THOSE GUYS count as the level of striker that would make you see things differently?
