i think ali could slip lewis' jab and outpoint him with quick flurries then get out again. I beleive ali's handspeed and incredibly fast feet would confuse lewis enough for ali to edge it on points. lennox could look sluggish on his feet at times. Not writing lennox off, stylistically he is a nightmare for any boxer from any era (although i think frazier beats him 7 or 8 times out of ten) but i just think ali would find a way to adapt and win as he so often did against superb opposition.
Put those 5 ATG's in the ring with Lewis and you'll get the same results in a H2H... Those ATG's you've named are thought of so dearly mainly because they shared a ring with Ali not because of how good they were technically. Lewis is essentially a Foreman with slightly less power but a bit more size, better hand and foot speed and better boxing ability and brain. Styles make fights and Resumes have got **** all to do with H2H... Lewis could only beat who was around to be beaten....
I'd rate Lennox anywhere between 7 - 9 on my all time heavyweight list. Definitely THE best heavy us Brits have ever had,and one of the best British fighters ever, pound for pound.
For the record i see Ali winning maybe 7/10 fights but it's the general bull**** people come out with that Ali would smash Lewis up like a 2nd rate bum gives me the hump because i have watched every single fight of both fighters and it just aint the case
Fair enough. Resume's dont have anything to do with H2H matchups. Ali still wins. Hes too fast he would circle lennox with his speed and pick him off. If Sonny Liston's jab couldnt do anything to Ali what makes you think Lennox's could? Liston has one of the greatest jabs ever. A more interesting H2H matchup would be Foreman vs Lewis. I just dont think Ali vs Lennox would be that competitive. Thats not me overrating anyone im just calling it as i see it. It woudlnt be an easy fight for Ali but hed' find a way to win. If you have seen Ali's vids you will know ali had amazing ring generalship
I am just a big fan of his dominance. Also he is the only HW i can think of who retired beating the man who goes on to dominate a devision.
Really? You think Lewis beats Foreman, Liston, and Frazier? I can see why Norton would lose to Lewis, but Norton might at least give him fits, because Lewis didn't always fight like a brawling monster, he looked to box. Norton was very awkward to fight himself.
Very true. Ken Norton was capable of giving a lot of guys a torrid time. His Achilles Heel was explosive punchers who would consistently force him backwards. As most of us know.
Lewis would KO Liston and Frazier. If Frazier puts pressure on Lewis , he brawles his way out, Frazier cannt take this. With Foreman he would maybe try and brawl late on when Foreman is tired even though Lewis would be tired too. Lewis can comfortably outbox Foreman as long as he dosent get drawn into the brawl.
Foreman fought with no real thought or finesse... he was just brute power in an era of smaller HW's. Lewis is bigger with boxing ability and even Foreman himself has said Lewis is the greatest HW of all time. Liston fought in an extremely weak era and was a big guy for the time but very slow of hand and i don't see anything Liston possessed causing Lewis trouble. Frazier would get picked apart from distance... just too small
i don't think Lewis KO's Liston. Liston really legitimately only got KO'd when he was shot in the Leotis Martin fight. Frazier would put pressure on Lewis just like Ray Mercer did, and Frazier is a much harder hitter and a better inside fighter then mercer. Foreman would KO him in 5 rounds. Lewis would just get caught at some point and finished.
He would have been even bigger had he born in the 90s with modern nutrition and weights. Well Foreman says a lot of things about different fighters. It depends on his mood IMO. Nothing causing lewis trouble? lol. How about his great left jab and his overhand right which could knock lewis out. it's not just size.
