    John Murray.

Why would Andy Murray even be considered.

You contradict your fellow Irish poster as he said Macklin isn't even Irish.

So I think my: 'Irish' was probably the best description of Macklin so far.

I dont even think about most Irish fighters are they are pretty much non-entities overrated to the hilt by their own.

I dont know anything about John Duddy except he is criminally overrated and got comprehensively beaten by a average JCC Jr.

    Exactly.

I currently estimate 89.7% of the world can claim to be Irish by some technicality such as their great great great great Nan shook hands with an Irish man back in 1768.

I agree, most Irish fighters are overrated by Irish people, my point about Duddy is he's from the same county as McCloskey so do you consider him British?

Do you know something we don't in that Ricky Hatton has officially announced his retirement from boxing? Last I checked, he's still active...

anyone who hates being called british is a pathetic loser. who cares if were english irish scottish welsh. none of it matters. me personally i think if a fighter lives in the uk has been trained in the uk he should represent the uk.

    Where are Duddy's parents from?

    Where are McCloskeys parent's from?

Whatever nationality your parents are is what you are. In my opinion. Which is the right opinion as you could be born in Chad with two Norwegian parents. Somehow I think telling your peers you are Chadian would be quite a strange and embarrassing experience for a blonde haired, blue eyed Norwegian boy.

Their parents are both Irish as well, Irish passports, consider themselves Irish etc.

And your contradicting yourself there because you say Macklin isnt Irish(which I agree) but his parents are both Irish.

    No, where were they born.

Within the boundaries of Northern Ireland or actually in Ireland.

    From Ireland and I'd say

    Andy Lee
    Paul McCloskey
    Andy Murray
    Dean Byrne
    Willie Casey
    Patrick Hyland
    Gary O'sullivan
    Matthew Macklin
    Paul Hyland
    John Duddy

    ---------
I think Irelands best prospects right now are:

    Carl Frampton (super bantamweight)
    Jamie Kavanagh (light welterweight)
Stephen Ormonde (recently moved to Light welter weight)

    and after the London Olympics
a few more lightweights, ww's Lww's and 2 world class fly weights and 1 heavy weight.

RIP Darren Sutherland who should have been on the verge of boxer probably about to make his 10th fight he was still with us.
