i think hopkins outworks marvin and wins a close decision. hbop was pretty tough in his own right, and would not be intimidated by hagler. and with all due respect, i think marvin was just a little bit overrated. most of his big wins were against smaller opponents. duran, hearns, mugabi. today, we would be criticizing him for that.

I can't believe how dismissive some of you guys are of Hopkins and his chances against Hagler. Let's not forget, Hopkins is an extremely intelligent fighter with a great chin... his defense is also better than Hagler's was. I actually favor Hopkin's if they were to fight each other in their respective primes... Hopkins always had problems with speed guys like Jones and Calzaghe not pressure guys like Hagler. I think he would have dissected and frustrated Hagler in the second half of the fight and won a decision. Especially if it was a 15 round fight. Styles make fights and I think Hopkins had the style to beat Hagler.

Yeah I agree with this. Not sure why people think it would be a complete blowout. Apparently Hagler is a thousand times better than Roy Jones Jr.

I agree. Personally, I have Hagler outworking Hopkins for a decision. I am, however, bit surprised (as are you) how many folks think Marvin would walk right through BHop.

It would be a boring unaminous decision for Hagler.

Hopkins by decision or even late KO. Like most of you educated fans here in esb, I see this as Hagler the slugger like Pacquiao and Hopkins the slick one like Floyd. Hagler was a nobody to Ray Leonard, and Floyd clearly oustlicks Ray Leonard. Hopkins outslicks the bull into submission. Skills pay the bills easy drills.

    Hagler by decision.

Hopkins is smart (and good) enough that I doubt any Middleweight in history is going destroy him easily - he gives anyone at 160 something to think about.

I don't think Hop is going to have much success on the inside by roughing Marvin up - I think Hagler gets the best of the fight inside and out but Hop always looks competative.

Hopkins height, defense and ring savvy would give any MW problems, even Hagler. But I think Hagler would simply out-work Hopkins, bully him, and use his ability to switch-up from orthodox to southpaw to take Hopkins out of his defensive comfort zone. Hagler by UD, in a fight without many highlights.

OMG??!!! Prime v Prime, thats easy peasy, past his prime Hagler almost broke down Ray Leonard, who is lightyears beyond bhop in defensive skill....it would be competitive in the early rounds, with Marvelous slowly wearing bhop down for a late round tko. As for Pek Peks question, ill take the bait...prime v prime= money may all the way....(at a catch weight! lol)
