plenty of idiots on here that dont know what there on about!

calzaghe offered 4 million to fight taylor but taylor priced himself out asking for 10 million instead so calzaghe decided to fight kessler.

then joe fought hopkins and roy jones and the fans asked for joe to fight pavlik but hopkins took the fight instead and proved that pavlik was pretty much overhyped.

big mistake by pavlik fighting hopkins when he really shouldve fought abraham.

    calzaghe wouldve beaten taylor anyways

calzaghe co-promoted his fight w/ jones. he saw a fight w/ an american legend he knew he could beat at MSG as being a better business decision than fighting kelly in AC. that is really indisputable. everyone wants to jump over the obviousness of that and say "joe woulda killed kelly" usually w/ the obligatory  or :rofl or :patsch.

but its true. and its also true that he probably woulda made just as much money fighting kelly.

who woulda won the fight is not the point!!!

FACT: Joe Calzaghe "invited" kelly up to fight him after he beat Jermain Taylor. There was an ESB frontpage article on it.

FACT: He then thought it made better sense $$wise to then abandon that idea and fight Jones. He was the promoter, he was calling the shots on that one.

EDIT to note that right after the Lockett fight Kelly asked the crowd if they wanted to see him fight Calzaghe. That was the whole point of fighting his stablemate. Joe then said **** it and went in another direction after opening this can of worms.

If there is anything I will say about JT, it is that he fought the best, no ducking.

after pavlik had beaten mirander, cazaghe offered the fight to him, but he turned it down.

again he offered the fight to pavlik when he took the title of taylor, but he had an immediate rematch, so calz moved up to LH to fight hopkins.

after the second taylor fight, pavlik said that the reason he didn't look as good as the first, was because of the added weight, and calz was up at LH.. so, what weight were they gonna fight at, had it come off?

and yes, calzaghe got more money for the jones fight than he would of got for pavlik, as he was the promoter.

This post is extremely inaccurate. Joe spent 6 months calling Pavlik out. As soon as Kelly was free to fight him, slappy ran the other way. He claimed KP was not a big enough name. In practically the next breath he claimed he offered Pavlik a fight after Lacy! So Joe says KP wasn't a big enough name after two wins over JT, but he was a big enough name back when he was recovering from hand surgery and his best win was Zuniga! The **** is indefensible, and you disgrace yourself by trying.

so calzaghe didn't offer pavlik the fight then?

pavlik didn't say the weight for the second taylor fight was the reason why he didn't look as good as first time round.. plus, his camp saying he was a middle, not a super middle?

calzaghe and jones walked away with $10 mill, as calzaghe had agreed to a 50/50 split with jones for the fight.

if you think calzaghe would of made anywhere near that amount for pavlik, then your smoking some ****ed up ****!!!

Pavlik became "overhyped" by decimating prime world class opponents and by beating a prime world champion. I think your wrong about which fighter is over hyped.

If you've ever watched The Steve Bunce Boxing Hour, then you have a good idea of the kind of non-sense the british press spews forth. Some of these posters just don't know any better.

Calzaghe talked bull****. When it was time to put up or shut up, he talked bull**** and ran away.

    That is the entire story.

I swear to God, **** the Thread Starter, I'm from Little Rock and a die hard JT fan. I've endured a lot of **** whether it be the "glass jaw" **** (not disputing it, just saying), the he got "gift decisions" over BHop, he needs to quit, but God Damn it he's not a ducker. I mean give the man his ****ing respect, he faught anyone, anywhere, anytime. Please for the love of God, grant the man the respect he earned. He would fight Joe right now, no doubt in my mind, if someone approached him about a fight with Joe tonight he would get in camp and fight within 6 months. Maybe that's good, maybe it's bad, but bottom line dude isn't a ****ing ducker.

Jermain "Bad Intentions" Taylor is one of my all time favorite fighters. Always has been. If every fighter fought the level of competition he did, we would have an entire sport full of "overrated" and "exposed" fighters.

Didn't JT said if they give him 10 million he'll fight calzaghe in his hometown? If they really wanted to fight JT all they had to do is offer him 10 mill.
