Golota no longer has a chin. This was evident way before Adamek. Golota used to have a fairly durable chin in his prime, but ever since the Brewster debacle it's just terrible. McBride nearly knocked him out in the first round. Brewster did to Golota what nobody has ever done and that's knock him flat on his ass with one punch. Austin flattened him in the first 2 seconds of the fight and light punching Adamek destroyed him. He went down in the first round against Adamek.

If he still had at least a decent chin I'd say maybe he could give it one last shot once the arm heals but he doesnt. He needs to just stay retired.

I dont think it matters how great condition Golota were to get in to. His chin is gone. If you dont have a good chin at the heavyweight divsion you better at least have some good defense and Golota is way way easy to hit these days. It's over.

I dont like it anymore than you do. I hate that Golota had to go out like that. He should have walked away after Mollo. But then, almost all boxers are stubborn when it comes to hanging it up and have to be shown they can't compete anymore by a few final ass whoopings. Thats just how it goes.

I like it too. Despite his obvious social anxiety and akwardness, Andrew is living his life in the bright light. If anything, boxing as well as his family have given him the oppurtunity to do that. Without it, Golota would likely be a truck driver and be socially isolated. I also like the fact that many poles still admire him and have forgiven him for his shortcomings in big fights.

I heard that even after the Adamek fight many fans were chanting his name and cheering him. Guess they knew this was his last fight and were thanking him for the great memories.

Yea there was a pretty big group of fans waiting for him as he was leaving the arena chanting his name, was pretty cool.

The long time Polish boxing fans who remember Andrzej appreciate him, and are fans of his, despite his shortcomings, which he made up for against both Byrd and Ruiz, despite the sickening robberies. He matured greatly towards the end of his career and even way after his prime still beat two title holders.

The people who like to insult him and laugh at him, at least in Poland are usually casual fight fans who only know about Adamek and Golota, and nothing more. I think the man deserves his respect, he sure as hell earned it imo.
