Is Pascal that popular? Why did BHop jump on Pascal so quick but not Dawson...?

Pascal has technical issues that make him a better choice for Hopkins than Dawson, who would have been in his comfort zone against a guy who doesn't move much or throw a lot.

I still think Hopkins' decline has gotten much worse even in the past three years, and ideally Pascal would win, but even after Pascal/Dawson I think Bernard recognizes where he has a chance and where he doesn't.

Hopkins knows after his last few fights he has no BO appeal.
Please Pacal send him to retirement!

Good post. Personally, I think Hopkins is miscalculating his own chances in this one. Technically, he's still the superior operator, but I have a hard time thinking he'll do well with his current reflexes against probably the biggest speed demon at the weight. I don't like Hopkins chances of pulling the trigger vs Pascal, and I think Jean's really going to show the age on him.

B-hop's best chance is to utilize the spoiler tactics he did against Calzaghe- lead when he can, clinch, and try to make it as dirty and ugly a fight as he possible- and to hope that Pascal lacks the conditioning Calzaghe had to keep fighting through it the entire 12 rounds (which, so far, looks to be the case).

Hopkins is a legend and I think people in Quebec appreciate that kind of thing.

    The fight will be packed.

nah man Hopkins has gone on record saying he DOESN'T WANT easy fights at this stage. Jones was a revenge thing but he even said he would be willing to fight DAvid Haye

After the dawson fight I thought to myself "pascal is fast with decent pop he fights like a young bhop minus the inside game". If the fight does come off it will be interesting to see if pascal can pull a calzaghe and defeat bhop with speed and volume or will hop be able to take advantage of pascals lack if inside fighting skills and mug em. I can't say for certain but the smart money is on pascal. Then again the same was being said about pavlik.

Could be interesting fight, but I have to give Pascal a slight edge.

I'm pretty sure Pascal will win this one... Hopkins looked really past it in his last 2 fights and he probably is 46 before the fight takes place.
