Not really, and I dont like these crap fighters getting second chances either.

I'd prefer it to be prospects or older guys who just havent been able to catch a break rather than all the has beens and previous prizefighter failures getting another go. Though I appreciate that aint gonna sell or get the interest the bigger names do so from a business sense it isnt great.

I'll watch em if im in but its definitely not the type of thing I'd alter any plans for so I can watch it.

 

It all depends on the type of fighters. The super bantam lads all came to fight and it resulted in what I think was the best prizefighter so far. Its also good in the way it boosts fighters careers. It did wonders for Rogan and Sexton and its already helping Willie Casey and Audley ( unfortunately).
Some of the turnaments are terrible though. I remember one , think it was cruiserweight that was horrible to watch and a LW one that I didnt enjoy much either.

 

No, its a load of **** and I'm tired of it.

 

When they get it right it can be great, more often than not it's shite.

 

I just find it sloppy and, because it's so aggressive, it tends to turn into guys swinging wildly and barely connecting. So no, not my thing.

 

I think the two fighters who go in should fight before it starts so then if there is an injury the winner should fight an then he would have already fought instead of going in fresh

 

It has its place. Lets not pretend its a new idea either, these type of shows have been around since boxing itself in one form or another.

It can be a good place to jump start a failing career, Audley Harrison, or act as a catalyst to a young guy who would have to spend a long time doing the rounds way way down undercards for very little money, Prince Arron. And some old journey men can find 15 minutes of fame from it, Martin Rogan.

I think its short format will also attract a lot of casual viewers or first timers a number of which may turn into more regular fans which can only be good for the sport.

However I do feel a lot of people watch it only for sluggers to see the big knock outs so it's possibly better suited to the higher weight divisions.

Over all though I think its positives out weight its negatives in terms of boxings mainstream exposure and generating media interest, both of which are lacking in the UK scene at the moment.

Its shite but like any boxing on tv, I always end up watching it...

 

A bit of a mixed bag really but on the whole I enjoy it.

To be honest it depends on how good the last prizefighter was in regards to the opinions of it. Before the SBW one people were bored of it, very few supporters it seemed. Then the SBW Prizefighter happened and people like it again, it was a brilliant night of boxing, great drama and action and anyone who watched that must of enjoyed it (even if you dont agree with the format).

Heavyweights can always produce some entertainment, I'm not particularly exicted by the names on that list but I'll give it a watch. Can't see the format lasting that long though, its been overdone a little since its start.
