Okay. Somebody please tell me which top heavyweight Overeem has defeated in MMA? Please tell me which top heavyweight Josh Barnett has defeated since Nogueria in December 2006? Please tell three top heavyweights Fedor has faced since defeating Cro Cop in 2005?

In the past two years Lesnar has defeated Couture, Mir and Carwin. They are three good wins against top competition - two world champions and a 12-0 KO artist. Before that run he manhandled Heath Herring, a fighter then better than anybody Barnett or Overeem have faced recently and better than most of Fedor's recent opponents. And he is now about fight another undefeated heavyweight in Cain Velasquez. Anyone who says Lesnar isn't the best heavyweight at the moment is ignoring reality.

He does have an answer to his striking though, namely instantly double legging him to the ground.

Overeem will not sub Lesnar off his back.

Werdum, who toyed with Overeem, is a much bigger risk to Lesnar than Overeem.

Exactly, Overeem has beat nobodies at HW, and lost to the elite fighters at 205.

I'm not. Fedor has just lost and Brock just registered a quality win. I'm not one of those blokes with my panties in a twist over a WWE guy being the champ. Brock leaves alot to be desired but he's already beaten Herring, Couture, Mir and Carwin. I'm taking into consideration he has had 5 fights.

Rankings are generally a what have you done for me lately. If Fedor avenges his loss then he'll go back on top, no doubt.

The guy just lost in 69 seconds.

So in your opinion those 4 are better than Fedor's career to date? Or is this just a case of man of the moment syndrome?

you dont rank fighters on career you rank them on there last fight or last few fights if not roy jones jr would still be number 1, brock or werdum in latest accomplishments have too be up there but i belive overeem beats every1 at heavy great striker very good bjj and decent wrestling, but if fedor regains form hes number 1!

So Fedor beats two former UFC champions in a round, fights the best contenders in SF but somehow 5 - 1 Brock is better than Fedor because Fedor now has one loss in a DECADE?

People tend to rank Overeem in terms of potential. Although he hasn`t beaten any top ten heavyweights, he is certainly capable.

I really hope he steps up his competition soon.

I don't think it's unreasonable to move the #1 guy to #2 after a pretty quick loss, at least until he wins again.

I would still probably say Fedor is the "best" but doesn't neccesarily deserve to be ranked #1.

Agreed. But Brock ahead of Fedor on the basis of that loss just doesnt wash with me. If anyone needs to go to the head of the pack its Werdum for beating the best heavy in the world.

No, not at all. Fedor is still the greater fighter by far. I'm just ranking Brock first on a what have you done for me lately basis. If Fedor beats Werdum then he immediately goes back to the top.

It's a current ranking not an all time ranking, I don't know what's hard to understand about that

It would be like ranking Foreman above Wlad if Foreman decided on another comeback.

Brock is the product of a hype machine. If he were in Strikeforce nobody would even know who he was.
