    Frazier vs Shavers...

This could have been a good one, I know Shavers has the power to hurt Joe..

But I know Joe can also take out Shavers..

It would not surprise me either way with this one, though I lean towards Joe..

    What do the board think?

I hear you, but to me, that's all it is. It's a guy reduced to a puncher's chance before the fight has even begun. You could put Shavers in against anybody and he'd have at least that.

True. Joe just had some issues with the chin, which really showed in the Foreman fight.. I didn't really show up in the Ali fights with Alis lack of a big punch.. But Frazier was full of guts and that alone if the fight went a few rounds he would out gut Earnie down the stretch Joe just seemed to always want it more then almost anybody.. But most regard Earnie as the hardest heavyweight puncher of all time so if you go by that then he has a hell of a chance...

Frazier early, like within three. He wouldn't be an easy target for Earnie, who surely COULD land someting big and hurt Joe badly, but odds are Frazier's quicker, shorter shots would find Shavers first, and Earnie could be hurt early and often.

His issues with the chin leave him with a general consensus top two hitter in Foreman unable to keep him on the canvas for the count after knocking him down six times. But Foreman is much larger and has a much better chin than Earnie. Earnie's much more vulnerable to Frazier's power and it's highly doubtful that he's going to lay Joe out or even survive to a decision.

Shavers would have to smoke Frazier out within 4 rds, or he gets smoked later on by Joe Frazier....... Ernesto Shavers ain't gonna KO Frazier after round 5....... NO!

    Joe for sure.

Joe got up to 7 of Foremans knockdown punches, including one where he was lifted off his feet.

And after watching a dozen or so Shavers fights, I can rest assure that he does not have the capacity to last with Frazier. His fight with Mercado is what separates him from the elite class of fighters. He just didn't have the extra edge.

Having said that, Shavers is one of my favorite fighters to watch, and this would be a great match

Shavers lost every time he stepped up, and not to champs only but to almost any top contender, plus some very average types (Ron Stander early in carreer, Bob Stallings in prime)

Frazier hands down.... Only chance Shavers has is a knock out, and I seriously doubt he could manage to knock Joe out, when not even a prime Foreman couldn't

The ****?:huh Foreman may not have parked Frazier like a Cadillac in 1973 and 1976, but he bounced him all around like a rubber ball..... That's good enough for me, Mango.....

Yes, I see a similar outcome to what we saw when Frazier and Bonavena squared off.

Shavers gets a bad rap for a glass jaw. Yes--he was stopped a few times, but he also fought 90 times. Far more than Frazier did. While everyone focuses on Shavers KO head shots, he was also a murderous body puncher, petty skilled, and had decent hand speed too.

I think this is a very dangerous fight for Frazier, but I'd pick him to win here.

Frazier resume seems void of big punchers outside of Foreman. He never fought the likes of Roy Williams, Ernie Shavers, Ron Lyle, Mac Foster, Leotis Martin or Norton.

Joe Frazier by KO. theres no reason why he couldnt beat him when so many lesser fighters could.
