So we now have both sides of the story and it seems both say the same thing, the german tv contract was the deal breaker. why is this the case? is it haye just backing down? or was their a better offer from a rival station? i know haye wanted the maximum from every territory to then be split, so is the k2 tv contract shite compared to other networks? if so what difference are we talking about? and could he make this money fighting someone else? it seems to me that unless the difference is millions, then this a ***** move.
Nope, it's just a smoke screen from Haye in order to avoid Wlad. There is no bigger station in Germany than RTL. There is no PPV in Germany. There is no station in Germany that ever paid more money for boxing than RTL. All the big money fights in the last 20 years (Klitschkos, Maske, Schulz) happened on RTL. The highest historic boxing broadcast rating happened on RTL (Schulz - Botha). There is simply no network that would be willing nor able to "outbid" RTL. RTL is the biggest and most successful commercial TV station in Germany. Haye claims he has a rival offer, but note how he is neither naming the name of the rival network (because there is none!) nor hints at the amount they offered (because no other German network would be financially able to pay more than 3 million EUR). End of story.
K2 has contract that gets them same money, in each of their matches for duration of their contract. Haye wanted to go for highest bidder because match would generate more interest than regular match. K2 was tied by their contract and wasn’t able to get best deal out of the Germany TV markets. Then everyone started to ***** and fight fell apart Well maybe next year
So you think they would pay same purse for every match, if they wouldnt be tied with multi fight contract? Im sure RTL would offer more to show Wlad vs. Haye than they would pay to show Vitali vs. Johnson. But because they are tied to multi fight contract they cannot negotiate bigger payment
Haye knew from the beginning that Wlad has a long-term contract with RTL. If he doesn't like it then he should have *NEVER* called out Wlad. He should have *NEVER* talked about fighting Wlad. Here's Booth and Haye in April of 2010: Source: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...itschko-brothers-should-fight-each-other.html Here they said they wanted 50-50 of "any" of the revenue. Haye knew that implies he wants 50% of the RTL TV money. Then just a few weeks later Haye turns around and cries Wlad's RTL money is "not good enough". Note how Haye is not actually offering an alternative himself, just claiming he has avenues to make more money in Germany. Where is the offer from the alleged "rival TV station"? What's the name of the station? How much are they offering? Haye is talking out of his ass, trying to save face. Haye and Booth were obviously caught off guard by Wlad's 50-50 no options offer.
It dosent even have to be rival station. Im sure RTL would pay more for this match, if there wasnt long term contract what will enable them to broadcast it as a same price than Kevin Johnson fight.
If we assume Wlad has a fixed-per-fight deal with RTL then they will pay the same. If that is the case then Haye *KNEW* this before publicaly demanding 50-50 of all available money. If Haye wasn't happy with Wlad's contract he should have told us MONTHS ago that financially fighting Wlad isn't interesting to him because of Wlad's TV obligations. Haye failed to do that. Instead after both the Valuev and Ruiz fights Haye kept rapping about his next fight will surely be against one of the brothers if they just offered him a fair 50-50 down the middle! The rest is history.
Because Haye was looking for a way out, and he found it in demanding the impossible and blatantly unreasonable. He didn't even deserve a 50/50, but demanded more to make the deal go away. He's a disgrace to boxing, honestly.
Not really. Haye isn´t more known than Johnson, Peter or such over here. Hell, Valuev and Chagaev are bigger names than him. Even Povetkin.
Nah, but that´s a fact. Haye had one fight over here where he didn´t look impressive. Outside of that only some people who are really into boxing know him. Valuev, Chagaev, Povetkin had numerous fights over here and their fights are watched by some million people - more than Pac or PBF in the US! - so, over here they are bigger names. Haye for the German audience is just another opponent who risks a big mouth and loses. No reason to pay more for him.
I could kind of understand why the fight fell apart - due to the RTL deal on Wlads side - but surely that is not Wlads fault? If he is contracted with RTL surely he cant negotiate with Haye on monies from that resource. So why is Haye complaining about that? Makes no sense and that sure as hell didn't provide any of his haters a reason to cut him some slack. Especially when he started to compare fight resumes? Seriously - he was comparing the Klit brothers fight history with Ruiz, Valuev and Barrett.
If Haye is so confident of smashing up K2, then why not offer winner takes all. I've totally gone off Haye now, and will not pay for any of his PPV. Happy to hear the result of any future fights on sky news. I feel like a twat by believing in his early bul****. Haye Man up or **** off.........
If the RTL offer couldn't be outbid, why didn't Klitschko agree to go with the highest offer knowing that it would be RTL?
