I'm not interested in ppv worthiness this show has been sold to the punters as The Magnificent Seven. That's what they want, 7 bouts with a lot of intrigue and 7 bouts that are competitive to some degree. Frank needs to make sure that happens.
it must be a kick in teeth for warren to all this time promoting it as magnificent 7 how does he find both another match up and an opponent for macklin with so little time left? I suppose as rob said konecny could now fight macklin.
I know where you're coming from mate but I don't buy that at all. The promoter's team will be referring to Gavin and Broadhurst as being title fights, etc, so they qualify as part of it. They weren't originally - there are five left, that's it.
Lets be honest, the name is irrelvent now. Its not about having a "Mag 7" its about making the best out of the card and it that ends up being a "Mag 6" then thats the way it is.
Ok the name is irrelevant now maybe I'm just looking for needle in haystack reasons to justify a great British boxing show. Which if I'm being honest is a rarity these days. It was always going to be a bridge too far given the history of fighters pulling out etc.
Then I fear they are going to be disappointed. If I'd bought a ticket (and I'm glad I waited) I be more concerned about the overall quality of the card rather than if Warren was going to manage to get a (very loosely defined) "Magnificent 7" together.
As I said in hindsight this was a bridge too far. We can never predict what will happen day to day but given the track record of Frank Warren promotions how many on here really thought this card was going to happen in its entirety. Would've been better splitting it over three shows.
2 fights down, 5 to go. Brooks-Jennings will no doubt go at some point. I'm pissed off actually. Was naive I suppose buying tickets and booking hotels a while ago. Boxing eh? atsch
I think we will see Macklin vs Konecny for the vacant European Middleweight title. Add Bellew vs Ajisafe to the card and it is still a magnificent 7 card.
yep, when this was announced a lot of peoples first reaction was "nice, but I doubt it will all hold up"
bringing bellewe and hall foward means no night of boxing the week after. im not to fussed missing out on rhodes to be honest
