A lot of people are judging Cloud by his fight with the always game Glencoffe Johnson. That's when we saw a rusty Tavoris Cloud coming off an extended layoff buckle Johnson on several occasions and get him on the verge of being stopped more than once.

Unlike Chad Dawson, Tavoris Cloud will be throwing with bad intentions all night against Pascal. Jean Pascal isn't exactly hard to find in there and his stamina could be a huge factor in this matchup. Dawson had so many chances to press him and let some hands go, but he just didn't have it in him for some reason. This won't be a problem for Cloud. Pascal's defense is full of holes.

Pascal would show Tavoris a lot of movement, but he wont be able to stay out of harms way for a full 12. I hope this fight comes off because I think it'll be Cloud's coming out party. If Cloud happens to lose a future fight, then it will be to a good boxer/puncher or a tougher brawler. But he ain't losing to Pascal.

Nope. I pretty much had a clear picture about the type of fighter Cloud was after his fight with Clinton Woods. Couldnt put away a shot Clinton Woods, and got busted up trying. A Calzaghe v Lacy ass whipping waiting to happen honestly.

He's far from special. I think he may be a hair better than Lacy.

Old Johnson almost out-willed him. I think he'll be seen as some underachiever but he's not all that talented. He's got good power, and can string some decent combinations. His stamina, chin, and defense and lack of real killer instinct compromise his talents as a fighter. He's a good fighter but not a great fighter. I think his physicality, speed, and heart (While not entirely proven) keep him ahead of the Jeffy Lacy types.

The biggest problem with Cloud is that he pulled out of a real fight and challenge, where we would have found out if he was any good, when he backed out of a LHW unification fight with undefeated Z Erdei. I know then WBA champ Campillo backed out against Erdei also.
I guess Erdei is in the too good for his own good and not a well known name outside of where he fights, but I think if Cloud had of fought Erdei he would be a former champ now. But if Cloud hadnt of backed out, and won, I would have given him big props.

Are you kidding? I remember when he won the title from Gonzalez. Since then he's defended it against a steady stream of nobodys.
Erdei is a good fighter and he's box Clouds ears off. But too good for his own good? No way. More like protected.

You're mistaken. Cloud is the best in his division. He fights in spurts like Ezzard Charles. He fought Glen Johnson toe to toe, which no one else has ever done. Yes they leaned on each other, but that's why Cloud was a bit tired. Watch Cloud's fight against Gonzalez, and you'll see he really has good stamina. By the way, Cloud is the only man to have stopped Julio Cesar Gonzalez.

Cloud had a one-year layoff from the ring, and still beat Johnson

He stood toe to toe with a 40 year old Johnson? Big deal. If that was Glen from may be even 5 years ago it would have been a UD for Glenn.
Cloud is a simple slugger who puts too much butter on every punch he throws. He's exciting to watch and comes to fight but he's not intelligient and he wont have a long career if he spends it eating leather they way he did vs Johnson.

What???? Erdei is an undefeated 2 weight champ, made 11 defences before relinquishing. Beat Gonzalez when he was coming off his big win over Michalczewski, beat Barashian, beat Garay twice, beat Ulrich, beat Sahnoune, and when Cloud and Campillo both pulled out of unification bouts against him he stepped up a division and the WBC CW champ.
People dont moan about Tarver who was somehow rated higher fighting Santiago who Erdei beat before.
People dont moan about D Green beating Murdoch who Erdei beat before.
People dont moan about Garay, Uzelkov, or Michalczewski beating Lakatos, but dont like it when Erdei beats this guy. Lakatos has only lost to undefeated fighters.

As I said Erdei even though he is now getting on is a big threat without proper recognition
