LOL! The WBC just made Chavez Jr. the mandatory for Sergio Martinez' MW Championship!

That will be at 154 (for the WBA title) and could therefore conceivably not affect his middleweight ranking.

Cotto could knock him out in 1 round and we could still see him challenge Martinez a few months later. Welcome to the fabulous world of boxing! :x

I still don't get what weight this fight is going to be contested @?

I though Chavez couldn't make 154 lbs any more and Cotto is NO 160lb'er.

So what's going to be the weight limit?

Wait, but isn't the Silver Championship supposed to make Chavez Jr the actual no. 1 contender in the MW division ever since he won it after fighting Duddy since he's the interim champ?

It would have to be 54. Cotto going to 60 is not a good idea imo.

Chavez Jr. is a much improved prospect, but Martinez would humiliate him.

These sanctioning bodies are an utter joke and disgrace to the sport of boxing. The Ring Magazine title is the only one that holds merit because 1) there is only one lineal champion named per division as opposed to the silver belts and interim champion b.s. 2) The title is only awarded when the #1 rated guy faces the #2 guy, unless there are extenuating circumstances, in which case, #1 fights #3.

As for Chavez Jr., he won't be fighting Martinez or anyone on the p4p list. Here's who he should fight at this point based on: viable opponent, chance to pick up a belt, and chance to not get KTFO.

    1) Felix Sturm (WBA title fight)
    2) Sebastin Sylvester (IBF title fight)
    3) Anthony Mundaine
