Ward vs Dirrell has looked a bit shaky for a while, but with Kessler going out, these two have even less of an incentive to carry on, it seems... like quite a few reports have mentioned. ...nothing is set in stone... thus the "it looks like" bit in the title......and the poll inviting posters to vote on whether they think the tournament has a future or not.
Why Pascal can't move down to 168lbs or even a catchweight ? He was not good enough for Bute at 168lbs but now he's in a higher wheight class he's ready...:think
It doesn't really, though. Sorry, but unless you know something the rest of us don't this is a pure wind-up. It would be one thing if you made this thread immediately after Kessler pulled out, but the organizers of the tournament have since claimed that they are working on a next step and will be announcing it soon. So for now, until we know what's going on it doesn't "look like" anything and it's irresponsible to be sensationalistic about it.
How does Kesslers departure change anything though? The WBC is still in, the winner of the tournament will for sure be placed at the very top of the division and would have made a major name for himself internationally.
didnt this all start due to venue issue dispute between Ward and Dirrel? I heard, Ward wants to fight in Oakland a third time and Dirrel is not having that Ward then wants neutral but Dirrels men are not wanting that either so....one thing is for sure, the friendship between both Andres is ****ed up
Dan Rafael on his chat today: I don't know but I do know it's not happening Sept. 25. From what I am told by good sources both camps are trying to get out of the fight and Showtime is threatening legal action because if the fight does not come off, the tournament goes down the drain.
When you create a thread out of the blue with this title, it does imply that - and you know it. If you want to bait people into arguments, fine. Just be transparent about it.
What have i missed? I cant find anything stating this fight could be off or that anybody doesnt want it. This is a league format theres no i dont want that fight and i wont fight him bollocks. Taylor should never of been in it, Kessler is injured, its Boxing not a team sport these things are guna happen but for 2 fighters not wanting to fight? Surely they knew this fight was coming. Cant believe that could possibly be the case though, not without some source.
Does IB also have reading comprehension problems? You know what you implied, and you know the initial post didnt come off as supportive of the tournament.
It honestly doesn't surprise or even worry me that both camps are nervous about being railroaded into a venue on three week's notice. The September 25th date falling through wouldn't come as a shock to anybody. That in itself would not spell the end of the tournament. What it has "looked like" since Kessler pulled out is that the remaining match-ups might just be dubbed the semi-finals, and there is no reason that plan can't be followed moving forward with a postponed date for Ward-Dirrell. Has Dan Rafael or any other credible source given us any solid reason to believe that the fight won't simply be postponed to allow more time for venue negotiations?
Even the wording of the stupid poll makes his agenda blatant: The "Super" "Six"... Stick a fork in it... Bring on the semis!! OK, point taken - you aren't a fan of the Super Six or anyone left in it. Good for you. A+ for subtlety. What the **** does the first poll option even mean? Who exactly is "sticking a fork in it"? Posters on ESB? Since when do we have carte blanche over the promotion and management of the fighters involved, exactly? :huh You're trying to raise a ruckus, but you're only inspiring yawns. Remember when you weren't a troll, Dec? Good times...
