That cross has a special place in my heart. So loud! What about the Foreman from the Frazier fight? This thread has me wondering which version of Ali had the best chance against '92 Bowe...and why?

The Ali from '66 who was 212 pounds and beating the **** outta Cleveland Williams in Texas was the best ever above 200 pounds..... However, I also love how well prepared Ali was in '74 at age 32 when he beat both "Frazier and Foreman."

I was in Bowe's camp, not because of Bowe or Rock Newman, but because of one of the greatest trainers in boxing history, Eddie Futch! Bowe was good, but he refused to fight Lewis for a very good reason. Yes, Bowe was good, but I give all the credit to Eddie Futch who was a good and honest man. He worked so very hard to get Bowe where he got. I remember Big Foot Martin, Slim Jim,etc. We called Eddie "Papa Smurf", ask Freddie Roach about Futch, he was one of the greatest of all time. I miss you Papa Smurf! "The Great Eddie Futch". A good man...........

Roach, you know how good Futch was, don't you!

    Great Thread Mr Bill :good

I'm still trying to think more about this..... I guess for certain fighters the stars align at just the right time, Self-Belief kicks in & the fighter is working perfectly on all principles of offense/defence......how much of the mental side of boxing can win you the fight? Classic example is buster douglas......

Everyone whos posted has brought up unreal points about Bowe of 92, and he was a brilliant weapon for a short amount of time.....

All i can say at the moment is Bowe-Holyfield 1 easily makes my top 10 fights of ALL TIME :hey

Yeah.... But Bowe's name always brings out the best and worst of posters..... Bowe is praised by many and hated by many, as well...... It is Bowe's fault.......

Is Bowe's comeback still considered active? My record indicates he last fought in Germany back in Dec. 2008.....

    Meh...

I always had the love hate thing going on with Bowe. Loved his talent and his sense of humor, hated his mental shortcomings.

The bottom line is: we didn't see enough of the man to know. Yes, he beat an ATG, but Holyfield was never an ATG puncher, and, based on his being knocked down by Holy (in the third fight) as well as by Golota, and lit up by Herbie Hide, and stopped by Lewis in the Olympics, I would say there was a good reason Rock Newman wouldn't let him fight anyone...

He has only a few months ago talked about fighting Juan Carlos Gomez.

He says he wants to fight again but wants an unrealistic amount of money for coming in 60 pounds overweight and fightng crash test dummies.

No, he wasn't that good and would have been smoked within 5 by Lewis, maybe in the first 2

I think a good point to be made here is that someone who openly ducks another fighter like Bowe did Lewis cannot under any circumstances be considered the best ever.

He was\is WAY overrated. Still not close to most overrated HW Ike. Bowe took life and death fight with Holy and gave a terrific fight but he never was THAT good as many describe him to be.

I know this is probably another question for another thread:yep but how good do all of you think Douglas could have been throughout his career if he was able to maintain the discipline and hunger he had in the tyson fight?

I just can't judge Bowe like I should. Yeah, he beat a smallish Holy, but my memory of Bowe is the blatant ducking of Lewis, and Golota kicking his ass, and then losing to Bowe-TWICE. No, beating Holy was not even close to being the best to lace em up for one night.
