Forgett every other variable e.g. power, durability, mental suitability for boxing.

In terms of pure technical ability, was Primo Carnera the best technician among the super heavies.

    Let the cameras roll!

Most likely, depending on what you call a superheavy.

A superheavyweight in this discusion must be no shorter than 6' 4'', and weigh no less than 220 lbs.

Now you've done it. I wouldn't bump this thread if I were you, Janitor, lest you incur the wrath of Boxed Ears.

Carnera can't hold a candlestick to Wladimir Klitschko in ANY department other than perhaps chin.

I was watching Andrew Golota abuse Riddick Bowe the other day. The first fight. Merchant mentioned at some point or another that he had once described Big Daddy as being the most "well-schooled" big man in Heavyweight history. Foreman fired back, insisting that Bowe was never all that well schooled and used his inability to throw a straight right hand as leverage. I recall seeing Bowe throw a straight, crisp right hand cross to finish Bert Cooper but I think George was generally on point, Bowe was always over-hand right.

Merchant seems to be giving Bowe the nod.

Carnera is more variable and a better infighter.

I´d say yes, he has a shot. Wlad should be considered too.

    No .
He had a reasonably quick jab ,for his size but there was nothing on it ,he pushed with his right and was open to right hands.

Joe Louis said," he had nothing, he couldn't punch, but had a pretty decent jab .He pushed with his right and he was awkward".

Larry Gains called him ,"an easy fight".

Heart and guts but technically adept ? No, imo.

Max Baer found him easy to hit with those looping rights. Carnera's defence wasn't much at all.
Carnera was an okay boxer though.
There's no fighter as big as Primo who boxed as well as him, I'll give him that.

He was a combination of Floyd Mayweather , Manny Pacquiao , Roberto Duran , Pernell Whitaker , Muhammad Ali , Ray Robinson , Julio Cesar chavez locked in the body of a SHW.
Poor Carnera . If he only was 3" shorter and 50 lbs lighter he would have definitely KOd Joe Louis in 5 !
