He states both him and Ward knew full well they would face each in the 3rd stage when the plans for the Super 6 were drafted back 2009 .Both fighters signed the contracts knowing they would face each other and received high purses for their previous fights before they would meet . The only thing still up in the air is still the venue .The article also mentions that its highly unlikely that either Ward of Dirrell would pull out knowing that Showtime would have an eay case against them . So hopfully we get these 2 to fight soon than the winner of Double A and Froch fights the winner of this fight ..
Oh i hope this is right cuz i can not wait for this next round of Super 6, this and Froch fight, brilliant, both are clashes of styles and neither fight have got an obvious winner that everybody is agreable on.
The only thing's that changed is that both he and Ward are much bigger now than they thought they'd be when they signed the contract. Also, that "0" is much more valuable - in many people's eyes, the loss to Froch was not conclusive enough to deem Dirrell clearly second best to anyone... ...so it might make more sense building these two guys up a bit more before pitting them against one another Jones Jr. vs Hopkins I style... ...BUT...let's hope this fight happens NOW rather than in 2-3 years' time. Let's hope both are daring to be great, fighting the best they can, unlike some fighters out there (...!) :good ...still...what makes sense to fans doesn't always make best sense to the business men, and boxing IS a business first and foremost...
Boxing is actually a sport first and foremost. Money grubbing businessmen are what's ruining it and turning people onto MMA.
No, it's not. It wasn't in ancient Greece, where they fought for a prize that had more than symbolical value, and it certainly wasn't in the bare-knuckle prize-fighting days. Certainly not pro boxing. The ams is different - that is a sport first and foremost. Without promoters, there's no pro boxing. There's a reason these guys no longer fight for medals at the Olympics... and it's not because they love those belts much more.
Fingers crossed that they finally find a suitable venue to fight in. If this fight were too take place in 3 years time, it would be HUGE. I wouldnt be surprised to see a rematch in the future
And the 'prize' is why Ward and Dirrell joined the tournament, signing the contract that allows Showtime to make them **** money if they try to get out. In a world of business, Showtime is pretty well covered.
If that's the case, there's nothing for us to worry about... IF... (there seem to be many ways in which fighters get out of a contract without actually breaking it... and these two have promoters who can afford the top lawyers...
I thhink they should fight in detroit ... ward has had 2 fights by the bay ... that's 2 home fights and none on the road ... dirrell has 1 in the us and 1 over seas ... he deserves the second home town against ward ... froch and abraham should fight in a neutral area ... they both split a home and a road ... have them fight in vegas IMO
Ward vs dirrell Froch vs AA Probably the best line up we could have wished for in the Super6 for me. Two good boxing prospects and two sluggers. Makes for a great final IMO. Slugger vs Boxer. Can't wait
ESB over reacts to any post or "news" which is usually just some bull**** posted on a website. I have said this all along, these 2 will fight this year. These are the 2 best SMW's currently. It is a megafight for us fans, this will be the most skill on display this year.:deal They will work out the details and get it on, I am pumped!
