You need to get past your hatred of Mayweather.
Like I said Napoles "dances" to a rhythm. it's more than just head movement. You are coreect that he doesn't hop around. You can play music to his movement. Like he's a drumer. Its great to watch and to a point effective. However if you can pick up on it. This is why I think Mayweather beats him. You can disrupt it.
I never said this was going to be an easy win for Mayweaher and it depends on how fast he picks up on this. There is no doubt that in the early rounds Mayweather is going to eat some punches His history says he picks up on things quickly.

Aside from a style that will give anyone problems. I don't see any real advantage for Napoles.
    Size. Napoles: height 5′ 7½″ reach 72. Mayweather height 5′ 8″ reach 72″. I'd call this a push.

    KO% Napoles: 62.5% Mayweather: 60.98%
Times stopped. Napoles: 4 Mayweather: 0.
Napoles's stoppage losses are from cuts. It is not a sign of a weak chin by any means. However it means he can be hit.
There is nothing to indicate can't take a punch. Just look at the second round of his last fight with Mosley who is a better puncher than Napoles. Napoles doesn't have to worry about being put on the seat of his pants. However he dose have to worry about getting hit. He doesn't have any physical advantage over Mayweather.

So you're basing your pick in a fantasy match-up on the fact that you can play music more fittingly to one fighter than another?

This might be some music appropriate to Mayweather currently

    1. Being able to be 'first', ie beating your opponent to the punch is key to a boxing contest, Judah is actually an ATG in the regard of 'being first'.

    2. Yes speed matters plenty and you underestimate how much, unless an opponent is telegraphing their speed and creating easy opponents, a speed advantage is HUGE. Regardless Napoles isn't near techincally proficient as FMJ

    3. The only misunderstanding is yours. Yes Napoles can fight at range, he just couldn't fight at range half as good as Mayweather, seriously Napoles jab is so slow Mayweather would be laughing while waiting to slip it

    4. The thing Judah noted in his post fight interview was how hard Mayweather was to hit.Mayweather seriously outsmarted him, but yes I'd agree Mayweather's other attributes are underrated, showing his range

    5. Cokes wasn't nearly as good a counter puncher from what I've seen of him. He certainly didn't have the defense, ring smarts, timing, accuracy, relaxation and balance Mayweather has, who's clearly on a different level. I'm pretty sure if they both fought prime for prime you wouldn't be picking Cokes

    6. So if you think Napoles is going to slip inside to work his mid range combinations and beat Floyd up say so. I don't have a problem with that as an analysis, saying he's outboxing FMJ from range though, not going to happen

Cokes would work Mayweather at Welter.

Educated pressure is a pretty good description of how Napoles fought.

IMO you are overrating speed here, as if it automatically wins a fight. Zab was even faster than Kostya Tszyu and that didn't help much. Zab was faster than Floyd and lost clearly. Pac was faster than Marquez and got outboxed handily after the first round in their initial fight, he also lost to the slower Morales. None of these boxers had the defence or boxing skill of Napoles, yet they handled Pac's speed pretty good - Pac is quick but he is not Roy Jones quick. It was Pac's power, and later on his work rate, that were the problem for his opponents. Napoles has a great chin so that power is no big deal for him, especially at WW, and he had excellent stamina in an era of 15 round fights.

Second, you give Floyd the nod because he is a better boxer and has better defence than anyone Napoles has faced. Yet you don't give Napoles the nod because he is a better boxer and has better defence than anyone Floyd has faced. That seems like double standards.

Third, you think Cotto and Margarito have a good chance because of size. Napoles went 6 rounds with prime Carlos Monzon, a huge middleweight, and lost because of his one weakness, cuts. Are Cotto and Margarito really going to be big enough to bully him, when they are small compared to Monzon? While we're on the matter of size, doesn't that favour Napoles over Pac?

You haven't mentioned any of Napoles's strengths and why they might trouble the other fighters, especially Pacquiao who I think has a bad style matchup here. For example Napoles has more power than Pac or Floyd, enough to potentially stop either of them if he lands well, which he is more than capable of doing. Whereas Floyd and Pac are only going to ever stop Napoles on cuts, not a KO. Napoles is a better combination puncher, and has a wider variety of punches.

Welter/jr middle Mayweather has to be one of hte most overrated fighters to have graced the sport, right alongside the 2000's incarnation of welter/jr middle Oscar and Mosley.

For the first few rounds, he arguably outboxed Carlos Monzon from range, despite a huge height and reach disadvantage. I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility that he might be able to hold his own vs Mayweather from distance.

Cokes did beat Luis Manuel Rodriguez, which is more than Mayweather can claim to have accomplished at welter. He was obviously a fighter who could beat even the greats under the right circumstances. That Napoles twice dominated him in such fashion is quite remarkable.

Mr Walcott, what a good choice in username. I also give Mayweather the edge in skill/defense/timing over Napoles and outfighting ability over Napoles. Yes Napoles is 1 of the best defensive better fighters but he would be reduced to looking to come inside to pressure because his outside game would be completely neurtalises.

On the inside/mid range Napoles certainly has the advantages, it depends who is the better ring genaral in the controling of range, and I vote for Mayweather in that regard.

PS I'm you may have noticed I'm an FMJ BUT I'd agree Napoles is a better combo thrower at mid range, on the outside Mayweather is his superior by far

It's far more likely it would be Floyd's outside game that gets shut down by Napoles' cobra-esque head movement and ability to fight and punch on the frontfoot and lead from a variety of angles.

I see Floyd trying to go into his defensive shell and counter from it, when Napoles closes distance behind his feints and variety of leads.

Anyway I think we can all agree that Napoles vs Floyd and vs Pac would be 2 classic fights, which unfortunately are about as likely to happen as Floyd vs Pac :D

Napoles jab/straight right are comparatively very weak, he gets picked off. Napoles head movement is inferior to Mayweather's defence and he is hittable by lesser fighters

Mantequila ironically is reduced to the Castillo strategy
