Too one-sided. After the first few rounds, its wasn't nearly as close as Lederman had it. Jirov didn't fight smart at all, in my opinion.
Fair enough. Its what you like really. I give a couple of extra points for great fights contested between guys who are at a high level - the skillset factor. That's were Gatti-Ward falls down for me a bit. They're both very good fighters but neither was knocking on the P-4-P top ten when they fought. Neither were Somsak and Mahyar either, but I like the smaller guys (no homo), and I thought their fight was filled with as much action as Gatti-Ward but with superior skill on display. Just my take, I don't expect everyone to abide by my rules.
No, FOTY maybe. There's no fukkin way Gatti-Ward 3 was better :rofl. Round 12 was epic. Even Manny Steward was blown away :yep.

Gatti/Ward I was one of the most dramatic commentating jobs ever done. I've seen many fights that warranted more excitement, but because it didn't receive it, they aren't hyped up to be as a great. Gatti/Ward I was a great fight but it was no more exciting or enthralling than a Bowe/Golota II.
I'm not saying it's necessarily objectively 'better', I'm saying it's my favourite. Round 10 of Corrales-Castillo 1 is a more exciting round for sure, but that's not the be all and end all of everything. I love round 12 of Toney-Jirov because it signifies something, which Corrales-Castillo does not. Corrales-Castillo is an example of extreme courage, resilience and firepower, much like many great examples of guys like Gatti, Morales, etc etc. Toney-Jirov is a great example of mental strength and old-fashioned boxing technique defeating physical potency and volume punching; therefore it is more important to me on the basis of what I hold important in boxing. It's merely a personal preference.
Not a fight that ever really got me all that worked up. It's obviously a wonderful fight, but it was being hyped up as being the best fight of all time after it just happened. I checked it out, and was underwhelmed. I prefer their second fight, but each to his own. You a fan of the Bowe/Golota fights? Compelling wars, albeit one-sided at times.
