Although I think you are broadly right about Hayes thinking, not being into boxing doesn't make somebody "thick". Most people just don't care.
Agreed. As Zeus or Plato - or some wise man said............... "We are all ignorant, just on different subjects" Heres the thing - Haye is not really a risk taker. He built up a reputation as one - because he went to France to beat Mormeck. he went to Germany to beat Vaulev. But he was the challenger both times - with nothing to lose and everything to gain. Yes - he fought Maccarinelli - but that was in London - and the only reason he fought Maccarinelli - cos he was confident he was a level above - but mainly because Warren was paying him £800,000 - compared to the £150,000 he got for the Mormeck fight. Haye now has a title - and earning power - so his next few fights will be in London. Dont expect Haye to fight in places like Germany now - there is no need. Haye will fight in UK now for the rest of his career.
your underestimating the intelligance of british sports fans. i have told 4-5 mates about this that just watch the big fights, and they all laughed about the fight.
****ing hell Rob, that a bit "pot, kettle, black". It took long enough for you to suss him out and you're still pissed off about it now!!
Gotta say i'll be relived that we'll know for sure, this whole "Will they/Wont they" saga has been really tiresome. I just hope that if Haye does fight Harrison he doesn't take a half a year or more to fight somebody else.
Rob, you are an intelligent guy but you seem to have this rose tinted glasses view of fighters. It might be news to you but they are not Spartan warriors who fight for the glory of the Gods...boxing is a business, has always been a business and fighters have every right to maximise their earning potential in the limited time slot that they are at the top.
its been clear since he won that belt he's happy to sit at home and be called champ by folks who couldnt pick Wlad out of a line up , christ he was on that gay ass saturday night programme the other week. its sad , i reckon he had a shot against Wlad back when he first moved up but he's just a ****ing celebrity fighter
I get that and I accept any fighter taking a money fight but Haye has always prophasised as being in it for the glory, the legacy and not the money.
This, to the British public is THE Heavyweight Champion. Which means no urgent need for a Wlad fight if he can make some easy money first. Does he still wear his Hayemaker tshirt on all his TV appearances?
Even the causal fans know Audley is a laughing stock in some quarters. One of my workmates, a Manchester United fan from South Wales (that should tell you all you need to know) just asked me whether I thought Audley would get through the first round.
