True.. but if a bum can still punch.. you can still get caught.. Jeff Lacy was a bum who could punch.... so was Hasim Rahman..
I think Maidana is vastly overrated, still has enough power to put Khan down and out... should be interesting, going with Khan by decision, possibly late TKO.
ok so to begin with Khan will never fight maidana and then when it actually happens then you hear bull**** like this. Lose-lose situation for Khan. But then again, haters are never satisfied
This is what boxing should be about, making and taking risks, and giving fans real fights, something in recent times is fast disappearing.
It had to be made sometime. I hope Khan is taking this one seriously, i dunno if he realizes it or not but this is the biggest fight of his career. Since he has fought and associates with bigger names(Barrera in the ring, Pacquiao in the gym), i'm not sure if he really understands the gravity of this fight. That being said i expect a W.
I doubt it will be a fight of the year, unless Khan stands and trades with Maidan which is unlikely and very unwise. I can see Khan frustrating Maidana with the jab and movement, and coast to a UD with a few hairy moments along the way.
No i think Khan understands this is his hardest fight to date, because one sloppy mistake could cost him the fight vs a power puncher like Maidana. This is it, boxing is a sport where you have to face all types of fighters and Khan cant keep away from big punchers all his life, thats what i used to tell the haters. Khan is a real professional and will prepare for this fight 100%, also i am sure Roach and Alex will see to that.
If Khan beats Maidana he puts the ghost of Presscot to rest. Maidana is bigger, stronger, faster, more powerful and more skilled than Presscot.
I think it will be a FotY contender simply because the tension will be so high. If Khan slips and makes mistakes everyone knows he will pay. The probability of him tasting the canvas in this fight-and maybe for good- will be high. He can really lose this one. He can also TKO maidana in my opinion as well, who isn't an incredibly durable fighter himself and will certainly absorb a lot of leather in this fight. Good point, his team will guarantee that he shows up on fight night at least physically at 100%...
I dont think there's ever been doubt that Khan would be willing to fight Maidana, I think he'd fight Prescott tomorrow if he could but the doubt was whether the powers that be would ever let him risk that chin to do it.
According to The Scene, the fight is not finalized and negotiations are still ongoing, though a deal is expected on both sides. Article also states the fight is likely to take place in the States.
