I actually quite dislike andre ward as a person but you're just a dumb human being for calling him a cheater. He uses his head to pin on the chest and move for leverage on the inside. he doesn't throw it as a blow(which would be the actual foul you're accusing him of). Duran did this. Chavez did it. Every infighting specialist in boxing history does this. You don't understand the difference between fouling(if you're even going to accuse him of breaking the rules) and cheating either. sit down.
Ward charges in recklessly with his head. He might not be specifically targeting anyone's head from the beginning, but it definitely looks like when he first connects, he likes it... He's going in hard and doesn't give a damn if he busts the **** out of the other guy with it. **** him.
Oh, so when you use head slips to get inside now you're a goat with boxing gloves on? He doesn't charge anyone with just his head, otherwise he'd get ****ed up. He leads with it, but he certainly doesn't use it as a thrown blow(the definition of butting in boxing). So what if he uses his head on the inside? This is ****ing boxing. You will butt heads at close range, intentionally or otherwise. You will bust somebody up. It's not pretty, but it's a facet of the inside game and is legal the way he does it, for the most part. Notice how the butts were more pronounced in the Kessler fight? That's because Kessler got down to his level and tried to get in the fight. It was not intentional.
I like both fighters. They're both talented and both are classy out of the ring. I'm rooting for Dirrell because he got robbed badly against Froch and got cold cocked by badly losing Abraham. He deserves a win. Plus, it could set up a rematch with Ward, which would be great for the division.
At the start of the tournament the only American I wasn't rooting against was Taylor. :yep Dirrell has turned me off ever since the Stevens debacle and hasn't exactly curried my favor since (despite a good showing in most of the rounds against Abraham). I just don't care for his style the way he uses it, or his personality. Ward, on the other hand, has slowly won me over despite the lame "SOG" thing (while seemingly earning himself an army of haters who accuse him of having an ugly style and using dirty tactics, when really there are dozens of boxers who are far worse on both fronts).
I'm gonna have to reconsider my dislike for Ward. Maybe he's not as dirty as I thought after all. We'll see in the Dirrell fight. Anyway, I still won't like his style, too ugly.
For some reason even as rough as it is his style is more palatable to me than Dirrell's. I like speed and slickness but something about AD's delivery just really turns me off.
good thought.. thought im pullin for dirrell i would like to seeward against froch or abraham. but maybe they will happen anyway if he looses after the tourney
I liked Dirrell in the Froch fight but he held way too much. But in the AA fight, it was pretty good. Those little slips are a little too frequent though.
