You mean the fighter who has been stopped once and that was by a body shot? That doesn't even qualify as an example. Let's clarify. We are discussing fighters who lost their heralded punch resistance after being knocked out for the first time. Librado Andrade has not been stopped or shown to have a shaky beard...after being stopped by a body shot. :huh

We're idiots for showing interest in a high-profile Boxing match? This doesn't compute. Perhaps we are overstating Margarito's chances of victory, but we are discussing a boxing match. This is generally what Boxing enthusiasts like to do in their spare time.

I think Pacquiao should handle him pretty effectively. As fired up as Margarito will be, i don't think we will be seeing the ruthless Margarito who was at his best in the Cotto fight. He got beaten too badly by Mosley and has been too long out of the game at the top level. Between the Mosley fight, his suspension, and his tuneup against a lower caliber of fighter, i don't see him being at his previous best.

Margarito doesn't have big one punch knockout power so unless he is landing frequently he isn't as scary. Against someone with the combination of footwork, stamina, and seemingly solid welterweight punch resistance that Pacquiao has shown i don't think he will be able to impose his will.

Margarito thrives on people who lack the ability to fight at a high pace or can't take a good shot and keep their head. I see Pacquiao succeeding where Cotto failed, getting off his shots and getting out of the danger areas before suffering too much damage, and doing it for the entirety of the fight. I could be completely wrong but i also think Pacquiao hits hard enough, and has the necessary timing to worry Margarito coming in with his shots. He won't shrug everything off like he did against Cotto, and once that happens i think he will be in a lot of trouble.

Similarly to when SNV shattered McCline's ankle with a shot to the Forehead, Bute's power transferred from the ribcage into a concussing force to the chin. Have you ever seen a movie called Bloodsport?

This will explain a few things.

Yes, he got stopped by a body shot, and decked on a single shot to the head in that same fight. And it was far from overwhelming. Thus the term "punch resistance," because it ain't all about a certain area once a fighter starts slowing down (ahem... Andrade, ahem... Margarito), and their overall constitution starts to fail.

Well here you go morpheous. When you were busy doing something else and everyone was talking about Floyd of all things(go figure)here is my analysis that I managed to post on another thread before your philosophical rants of you just liking to hear yourself bull**** people.

Finally a damn thread on Pacquiao and not Floyd . Yes Margo has a size advantage and he could be a threat if he attacks Pacquiao's body. But the problem is Margo is a slow punching bag who's iron chin has finally been cracked. Another thing is what Naseem told Shane when he fought him . "This guy walks into punches". Manny who puts his whole body into the shot who is faster than Shane adding velocity plus Margo walking into the shot equals destruction 2.0 for Margo . Another thing is Margo doesn't have defense or head movement . Pacquiao will run circles around him and use his angles. Margo is so damn slow Manny land a 3to1 hit ratio atleast. Margo will be reacting the whole time.

I will be watching this fight because it will be entertaining . Margo is going to get destroyed . It would be better without a catch weight though because Margo with his 5'10 frame would be around 170 lbs on fight night to up the challenge and not cheat boxing history . I'm guessing Manny and Margo will be close to the same weight on fight night though with the catch weight not even making his size a real advantage . But oh well. This fight to me is rigged like a matador against the bull. :hi:

This is the mentality I adopted many moons ago after witnessing Manny Pacquiao destroy Oscar De La Hoya in a lopsided and brutal fight. I don't recall many, if any, fans on this board giving Manny Pacquiao a chance at victory going into that circus show. Boxing is the theatre of the unexpected, and there are enough reasons going into this fight to suggest that Margarito is a live underdog.

You think Pacquiao will be close to the same weight as Margarito on fight night? This is where we disagree, but I do think this will be an entertaining fight for as long as it lasts, and I make Margarito a live underdog. I'm considering putting down a bet on him winning by stoppage, depending on what the odds are going into the fight.

Bute is the hardest hitter that Andrade has faced in his career, and I don't think he was terribly hurt. He smiled to his corner whilst on the canvas, and got up calmly with his legs firmly under him. I'm not convinced Andrade has had his chin cracked, either. I fear we may just continue to disagree on this, Rafael.

Fine, but next time warn me before you go and rewatch a broadcast. I've been sitting here for minutes waiting for a response. (J/K) ;)
