This sounds like "The Nebraska Wildcat" Ace Hudkins.

B, you are a mindreader! Yes it is Ace Hudkins...The toughest of the tough...Just retired, Hudkins was severly shot twice in the chest, and was expected to die..He survived and three months later was arrested for
getting into a brawl..He went to Hollywood opened a horse farm, renting horses to the Hollywood studios..One of his horses was named Hi Yo Silver
for a Lone Ranger Movie...When he was 66 years old , and a security guard he knocked COLd 3 robbers. What a tough ******* was Ace Hudkins..Take care,b.b.

Jimmy Flood wasn't a legend like Hudkins, Burt, but he was some tough SOB in the ring 'n in the street. Survived multiple gun shots 'n stabbings, 'n lived that way to the bitter end in Vegas, hustling a buck any way he could.

didnt Cleveland Williams suffer a gunshot wound & continue to box. Vinnie Pazienza broke his neck & fought on. Boxers are deffinetly the toughest of atheletes!

Andy Kendall survived a shotgun blast. Was expected to die but worked himself back got back into the mix and fought among others, Dick Tiger, Bobo Olson, Mike Quarry (twice), Bossman Jones, Jorge Ahumada, Yaqui Lopez, Henry Hank and of course, Bob Foster for the light heavyweight title.

Yeah when he was decimated by Ali he came into the fight with about half of his insides missing so the myth goes - he looked in great shape to me though - got a pic somewhere of Liston visiting him in hospital.
