Bruno is the better fighter, but Peter has the great equalizer. The longer the fight goes the more of a chance Peter has. Bruno gassed horribly late in fights. It amazes me Oliver Mcall couldnt finish him in the last two rounds of their fights. Bruno needed help back to his corner between rounds he was so tired.
Bruno has the better jab, the better combinations, more power, a much better defence, better conditioning, the wider variety of (legal) shots, and better technique in general. Peter's chin is vulnerable to big punchers (and not-so-big punchers like McCline) and few can match Bruno for raw power. Bruno is going to made this one look brutal. Bruno TKO2.
The simple fact that he rocked Tyson with a single combo makes me pick him by KO here. Bruno was a very good fighter for the first half of fights.
Peter has the better chin, and he's more proved over the 12 round distance. Bruno has a stunning knockout percentage, yet his power looked impotent as he unloaded everything on Bonecrusher for nine rounds. The suddenness with which he failed against Lennox is very disturbing to me. His stamina and punch resistance can be argued as inferior to Shavers, although he was vastly more skilled. It took a lot more punishment to stop Earnie though. If it goes the distance, Frank should win easily, but I'm not comfortable projecting his survival.
Sounds like the Bonecrusher fight. Peter could win but I feel more comfortable picking Bruno. They both have equalizers, but could Peter really rally late in a fight to turn it around? I'm not too sure he can.
-He almost did against Wlad in the 10th, almost like Witherspoon/Bruno but Wlad held on and got out of the round. Peter did survive early onslaughts against McCline and Oleg as well, but it wasn't really really late comebacks. -I think it really hinges on Bruno though, Witherspoon and Smith weren't late ralliers either...Frank just made them into late ralliers by falling apart so suddenly. If Bruno wins I think it would be like the McCall fight with him just hanging on. Winning big fights just seemd really hard for Bruno, he would almost always blow it somehow. Meanwhile, during his little peak run inbetween the Klitschko fights...Peter would somehow show up out of shape, turn in ugly performances, and still squeeze past better prepared fighters.
anyone with a great punch has a chance against big frank but they would have to start very fast and outwork a very strong man to do it. for 5 rounds frank bruno was a seriously great heavyweight, past this point his power and control weakened to a mere human level and only the very best could take over. i dont think I could bet on peter but it is also a very bad fight for frank. if peter cant make an impresion early I have a hunch bruno would grind him down and force him to quit.
I'm amazed that Peter is still so highly regarded. I'm also amazed that people rate Bruno's power so far below that of Jameel McCline.
Its not that Peter is rated highly, its that Bruno faded so badly and Peter definitely can punch. Bruno is better in every way, but he froze like a deer in headlights when he was nailed cleanly.
Only the very best could take over? Bonecrusher and an out of shape Tim Witherspoon? After those screw ups, Bruno was kept away from any top 10 contenders or risky fights for years upon years unless there was something huge to be gained...Tyson, Lewis, or a title from the vunerable McCall. Bruno had fantastic management.
Well then your overating Bruno. Yes I think Peter has a chance of making it to the second half of the fight. He went pretty deep with both Klitschkos. Wladmir certainly punches as hard as Bruno dont you think?
