joes chin is up there with the best even know he got droped a few times only once he really was hurt and that was against mitchell who he then koed but id go for joe on points tommy hearns wasant the best smw
Great fight. I can see Hearns dropping Calzaghe at some point with a right hand. Would he stop prime Calzaghe at 168 though? I'm saying no. The longer the fight goes, the more Calzaghe gets in to the fight. Hearns is ahead after 8 rounds. Calzaghe rallies well from rounds 9 - 12. Hearns wins a close decision.
Hearns wasnt great at 168 , so it pains me to say this but Calzaghe would have a significant edge. But hearns is a great , fought a higher calibre opponent and had all the physical advantages , Hearns on points in a classic.
At 168 pounds, Hearns would lose clearly to Calzaghe. Hearns was already way past his prime when he move up to 168 pounds.
Calzaghe by easy KO. But Hearns wouldnt fight Calzaghe. Remember how Pavlik wouldnt before he was MW champ when offered, Hopkins wouldnt when he was MW champ and Jones and Taylor wanted too much to face Calzaghe. Calzaghe easy KO
Why did Calzaghe need to fight a guy who in the end got embarassed by a 44 year old - who he beat - and a 35 year old light-middleweight? It's the same deal with Dawson. Nothing but hype. Although Dawson can atleast come back to be a top fighter.
For **** sake, all this bollocks about the so and so past fighters and how would destroy/annihilate/dominate a fighter of today is getting to be a joke. Why is it then, when I look at a fighters record or watch a particular fight where the opponent is clearly not as good as the fighter of today in question yet takes the 'ATG' the distance in a tough fight? Yet they would still destroy/batter etc the fighter of today in question. It's like some people just go off name and sit on past fighters dicks, without taking into consideration other factors such as weight, how old they were when they fought in that division, how they performed in that division, who they beat in that division etc. At 168, a prime Calzaghe would decision Hearns.
"Boo" seems to think that Calzaghe supposedly avoiding him, is Pavlik's greatest achievement. "Yeah, my guy got schooled by an ancient Hopkins and a blown up Martinez, but Calzaghe ducked him, so Pavlik must have been special, right? ...right?!"
Thing is Pavlik was offered the fight before he was MW champ. Pavlik had fought at SMW or above 13 times before he was MW champ
Hearns by knockout. Calzaghe was always a sucker for a sneaky right, and could be caught with the uppercut too - which are big weapons for Tommy. Hearns has the better jab too..... though Calzaghe has better footspeed.
Look at the hearns that fought Andres at 175 , he jumped from 160 , looked very sharp , Calzaghe would have been outjabbed and would have been eating right hands all night , I still have hearns by decision.
