Could we say that Audley taking part in Prizefighter jump started his career? gave him a confidence boost he really needed. Maybe after knocking the guys out in this competition, instilled a little more belief in his ability to fight. I remember in the final, he was getting whacked around a bit and it was like, hold on a second! I got the shots, I got the tools, if i step it up a bit and believe, i'll get this guy out of here, which he did. Perhaps that set him up in better stead for the Sprott fight. I know he was getting knocked around again, but, he didn't quit. Kept at it with one hand and let it rip in round 12. Has Audley maybe got over the deer in headlights phase of his pro career and discovered something in him that he didn't know he had? the ability to dig in, and fight? Gotta keep it in perspective and the quality of his opposition leaves a lot to be desired. But maybe Audley has a little more devil in him? Could we see him complete his transformation against the Hayemaker and really unleash the beast? Or will he go back in to his shell, get beat, and sail away in to obscurity. Gotta love Audley though, we knock the guy but he's given us a few decent memories, for better or for worse. In 2 fights time, he could be the heavyweight king, not likely, but the fact that hes got himself in to this position speaks for itself.
It did raise his profile, in the domestic scene! Then the rematch with sprott was going all down for him then kapow..lights out! Haye goes for the kill in round 1?
Like you, I love the Audley story. However, no matter what version turns up to fight Haye, its never going to be enough to last 3 rounds. Haye is just way too good for him in every department. That smug **** is special, I have been trying to convince myself Haye wont dominate for long enough but even this stubborn scotsman knows when hes onto a loser & grudgingly bows down to Hayes talent. Im looking forward to the fight though, & would love to be proven wrong, but I wont be. Haye to destroy big Aud, & have a special career at heavyweight.
I've been on the Haye express for years. Yes he's a smug **** but all the sporting greats tend to be. I love everything about the guy and I can't wait until he punches Audley's ****ing lights out.
Good to hear. Too much negativity on here about Haye, **** em. This aint the fight we wanted but aint there more interest in this than Wlad v Peter and Vitali v Briggs. At least in this one you've got needle. I love needle in a fight :happy:happy:happy
At the end of the day, Hayes playing the smart game IMO. Killing time, playing it patient while the clock ticks, & the Klits grow older. He smashes big Aud & earns another big payday, hes in control of his destiny, hes got years left at the top level. As I say, I cant cheer him on, but I have massive respect for his boxing talent, & his business brain. Im actually in shock that so many good posters here have fell into the trap of thinking Haye is ducking the Klits, & claiming to turn their back on him. The guy is just biding his time, & Haye knows the longer he plays the waiting game, the weaker the Klits become. Haye is as sharp as a tack, & thats why Im backing him to be the big star of the heavyweight division in time. & thats from the viewpoint of a man whose interest is scottish boxing first & foremost, so when I talk about these things its from a neutral viewpoint, & its pretty clear cut to me without the barriers of impatience etc the fans of Haye & the heavyweight division in general have to overcome on a weekly basis. My vision aint clouded, maybe thats why I struggle to understand. My vision is clear, & that vision sees David Haye as the undisputed champion in the next two years.
Apart from the fact that even just a couple of years ago at least one of them was saying that they'd never fight each other because they are good friends. I think you are mixing up genuine 'needle' with marketing, promotion and build up, imho. Yes, we'll have a good promotion and built up to sell the fight, no doubt. To be fair that adds something, until we actually taste the product and go away feeling empty.
I'd like to see Harrison win, simply in spite of Haye's recent antics, but to be honest I don't think either of them would really be that bothered however it goes. The worst case scenario for Haye is he gets another mega pay day in a rematch, I'm not too sure he cares less about his legacy to be honest, as long as the money goes into the bank I'm sure he'll be rightfully happy. Harrison will walk away with millions boxers of equal stature will never ever dream of earning: Its a cosy money package for both the non British residing Brits, in this all British marketed fight, no matter what happens.
There's no doubting that that ditch punch against a cooked Sprott (lost 5 of his last eight) did a fair bit for him. Sprott dominated that fight, I wonder what people would be saying about a Sprott vs Haye fight?!
