This is not meant as an attack but an honest discussion. If we look at his record he's got one very good win (Darchinyan) and some ok wins. From what I've seen I really like his skills but he needs to prove it against....anybody really. I know p4p is arbitrary and all that but still.... If he is in top 10, why and where does he fit?
Holding out judgement until (if) he fights Montiel. If he beats Montiel in a convincing fashion, I say he is indeed.
look at the competition. He's top 10 easy IMO because there are barely any accomplished fighters who are still in their primes
good answers guys. lack of other applicable top 10 entrants and competition for him are valid points but I don't think he's solidified a position in the top 10 for sure, let alone top 5
He makes His top opponents like Arce, Darchinyan, Montiel all shiver in Fear!! They all duck at all cost just like what Floyd's doing now.
He couldnt even crack the list after beating Darch. It took Darch to go on and make waves after his loss for Donaire to crack that list.Piggybacking isnt savory. He has the skills but needs to prove more in the ring against quality opposition.
Resume, he is a notch below because nobody wants to fight him. Skills wise...Nito is in my top 5 most skilled fighters alive today. No order: Floyd JMM Pac Ward Nonito
i guess i have an issue propelling someone into the top 10 based on one win against an opponent who himself wasn't in the top 10 at the time
Yes but Ive never liked the idea that he crept up the ratings because he had to be ranked over Vic. Vic was barely and I think unjustly p4p when Nonito beat him. Most of his best work came after this loss, whilst Nonito fought hardly anyone of note. Sure what Vic goes on to achieve affects how Nonito is thought of but at some point the win gets stretched to far. Beating Montiel will leave little doubt but I think the whole Donaire situation adds to the reason why p4p rankings are basically bull****.
