Who else feels '11 Adamek would be tuff as nails for '53 Marciano? I sure as hell do.

Grant was too timid for the first part of the 12 rounder with Adamek... Grant came on, but fell short cuz of the slow start...

Vitali Klit doesn't jack around like Mike Grant does... V.K. assumes control from the getgo and rarely ever eases off of the controls until his job is done...

V.K. and Grant play in two different ballparks.....

Yeah, and 30's/40's Tony Galento would be a contender today. :-( Get real.

I say that too about "LaStarza and Cockell" both of whom fought Marciano.... Sorry, but Rolando and Donald would not be heavyweight contenders today.... They'd be Cruisers at best.... BUT! Old farts stuck in a time zone will swear these dude's from the 1950s would eat up The K-bros. and Dave Haye..... I just walk away from them senile types.....

    Note:

Cockell was tubby at over 200 pounds when he fought Marciano in 1955...

LaStarza was a 185 pound guy who was pretty solid there...

In 2010, Tom Adamek is way better trained and looks fit to fight with skills galore at 217 pounds... This Adamek dude is the goods...

I'm dissapointed cuz even users that posts I enjoy to read and are picking Marciano over Adamek can't put solid arguments. Just like they were wearing sunglasses and 49-0 Rocky Marciano is their deity. Marciano NEVER fought someone like Adamek and those who gave him hard time like Walcott and Charles - Adamek is capable of boxing like them (tactic) + cheen. Adamek can jab and throw it double and triple, he can counter, he han fight on a backfoot and he can be a brawler.

Arreola slow? Was Marciano a speedster? Arreola has fast hands for a HW, people seem to forget that or just didn't saw his fights and are following popular negative posts that they have read about Arreola.

I don't think that Marciano was much faster than O'Neill Bell. Bell stalked for one big shot as he was a great CW puncher and Adamek just made him look silly.

So please, if you see Marciano beating Adamek, type a solid post with solid arguments and without fanatic love.

You obviously haven´t seen Marciano fight. I gave you arguments, you just ignored them.
Walcott, Charles were faster, or at least as fast, and far more skilled as Adamek. And they were broken down and in Walcott´s case even stopped. Joe Louis, even at his age a superior fighter to Adamek, had the same size, was more skilled and punched much harder had absolutly no chance against Marciano.
Adamek has no chance there. He would take a bad beating and his heart would be bad for him in that fight. It would keep him in the fight when it would be better not to. He would be damaged goods afterwards.

The difference between Marciano and Adamek is just huge. He averaged 80-100 punches per round for 15 rounds. Every one of them a bomb. He broke the blood vessels in LaStarza´s arms when he trued to use the highguard. No matter how fast his opponent war, Marciano´s determination, will, workrate and power got to them. And it would get to Adamek too. And sooner rather than later.

I agree 2011 Adamek and Povetkin will fight for a hw belt. I doubt they will end up with one though.

Adamek is 33 and Pov is 31.... These guys are gonna have to make a move pretty soon....

I wonder if WBF champ Evan Holy is gonna fight Sherman Williams in Nov.??? I've been told Holy is seeking an opponent.... Williams has been working as a "Peter" clone for Wlad Klit in Germany..... Holy needs the action / money....

As I know you are a Klitschko fan, and now you say that you are a huge Adamek fan too, I want to ask who would you support: Tomasz Adamek or Vitali Klitschko, if they fight in March in MSG? :yep

I feel that Marciano is without a doubt the most overrated heavyweight great in a head to head sense.

His power wasn't proven against larger adversaries, and the fact that he is in fact a small cruiserweight hurts him against some other great fighters in his weight class. None of his best wins came against a credible opponent who wasn't a shell of himself.

That said, what isn't overrated is the mans heart, will, and stamina, and Adamek is the PERFECT foil for him. He is agile and skillful, but when he stands his ground, he doesn't move his head, and his hands drift. Rock would outpunch him in toe to toe exchanges, and the number of those would increase as Adamek fatigued(Like he does at heavyweight) and Rock got cooking, like he usually did.

Styles make fights. Their are TONS of good not great heavyweights who could outfox Rock in a head to head fight, but I can't name a one who can beat him in a bar style brawl with ropes. Too tough, too mean, threw punches in too constant a fashion.

    Rock, UD12 or TKO12.

I like the Klitschkos. I followed their careers since their late amateur days. But in that fight, I´d support Tomasz. :happy

Don Cocker 205 KOed in 9
Lee Savold 200 stopped in 6
Joe Louis 214 KOed in 8
Keene Simmons 201 KOed in 8
Bill Wilson 230 KOed in 1
Johnny Shkor 221 KOed in 6
Gino Bunovino 200 KOed in 10
Eldridge Eatman 207 KOed in 3
Artie Donato 202 KOed in 1
James Patrick Connolly 213 KOed in 1
Bill Hardeman 207 KOed in 1
Humphrey Jackson 254 KOed in 1

All men above 200 pounds. Big men weren´t that common but those who he did face were ALL stopped by him. There was one big very good hw in his day he didn´t face Nino Valdes. But he did destroyed Archie Moore who beat Valdez twice.

His power against big guys was proven. Joe Louis said even bumping into him felt like getting hit by a brick wall. Rocky ranks easily in the Top10 if not Top5 when it comes to power at hw.

I'd like to see V.K. clock and stop Briggs in October than wisely retire in 2011 just shy of his 40th birthday... V.K. is a solid Hall of Famer down the road, whether or not his detractors wanna face reality or not, but he's going to the IBHOF in this next decade of the 21st century... V.K. is an ATG heavyweight champion...

I'd also like to see Wladimir Klitschko retire by 2012 or '13 at the latest... He too has roared back from his losses to "Sanders and Brewster" to get fully re-established as a mega star and champion at heavyweight... The Hall will be there for him as well...

I'd hate to see the brothers blow it at this late stage and hang on too long and let it all go to hell like SO MANY before them have done...
