Who else feels '11 Adamek would be tuff as nails for '53 Marciano? I sure as hell do.

    bodhi...c'mon!

Lee Savold with a record 96-37-3, past prime and fighting his last fight at 32. Interesting is that Savold fought Joe Louis 1 year earlier and was 190 lbs...

    Joe Louis way past prime

Johnny Shkor 30-18-2 at the twilight of career

    Keene Simmons
    Bill Wilson
    Gino Bunovino
    Eldridge Eatman
    Artie Donato
    James Patrick Connolly
    Bill Hardeman
    Humphrey Jackson

I belive that Marciano's handlers did a big mistake. They didn't know that in 50 years later Rocky's resume would be doubted as he fought small HW's. They should put him in the ring with 300 lb cab drivers, butchers, construction workers or lumber man. I think that they would be much impressive rivals that those that you mentioned.

V.K. is mentally more tougher than Wladimir... V.K. is also more scary too...

Wlad is better skilled, but his chin is iffy upon being tagged...

I rate V.K. higher up on my top-20 list of ATG champs...

I (with a straight face) rank V.K. at # 7 based on he is a monster who would kill most other former champs dating back to 1887 with his size, toughness, skill and stare, and I have Wladimir Klit ranked around # 13 at this juncture...

I agree that Adamek would slow down in last rounds and I'm pretty sure that Marciano takes those rounds with his activity and aggression. But I think that Adamek survives those rounds based on how he reacted in his tough fights. Against Arreola he had wild 250 lb man who wanted to rip his head off in the 12th. Against Grant he was able to survive last breath rage of 260 lb 6'7 puncher. All this thanks to his movement and experience (over 40 pro fights and solid amateur experience). But I can't see Adamek to avoid Marciano forever thats why i pick Rocky to win over 15 rounds.

I like Adamek...my god, I defend him enough, but this is absurd. He's about on the level of a Harry Mathews, an excellent light heavyweight boxer/puncher with big dreams of winning the Heavyweight title, he was never stopped north of 170 and could squeeze past tough limited 200 lb brawlers like a washed up Breshore and damaged goods former contender Rex Layne..sound familiar? Marciano destroyed him in 2 rounds.

Anyone who thinks Adamek is better than LaStarza, Charles, Moore, and Walcott...wow, when did you start watching boxing? Don't answer..its rhetorical.

I will be rooting for Adamek against Vitali...since Haye certianly isn't going to get near him.

Adamek is definetly better than Matthews and LaStarza and comparable to past prime Charles and Walcott at HW in h2h terms.

Adamek didn't build his resume on washed up fighters he always takes the hardest challenge so no, it isn't familiar. Golota maye be shot but it was Adamek's FIRST fight at HW with experienced heavy that is 40 lbs bigger than him. Estrada in 2nd fight - I pick him to defeat Cockell, Matthews and LaStarza. Have you see him fight? I sure do, just as I saw many of Marciano's rivals. Resume wise Rocky is out of my top 10 HW, legacy wise he is a top 5. Don't make a superman out of him even if he is your idol.

I saw only opinion that these version of great fighters you listed that Rocky fought werent that good as they used to be, while Adamek is in his prime now and may have been a toug challenge for Rocky.

This is why I dont like these Adamek's comparisons to great fighters from the past. Its a very strange situation, because as fighters retire they get more and more respect when the time goes. And Adamek not only is still active, but hasnt probably peaked at HW yet. Let him settle in the division, fight the best and then start making comparisons.

What if he beats a future ATG Vitali, will you give him the adequate respect or will you try to defend your opinions by saying that Vitali was shot? I just want to know :think

Until something like this happens its hard to judge him fair, because he is only a contender at HW, however a former 2-division champion... Too unproven at his new weight though.

-The majority educated opinion is that Moore was at the apex of his abilities, newly crowned Champion Walcott gave one of his greatest performances, and the still game Charles rose to the occassion in their first match. Most writers at the time felt this way as well...and they had no love loss for Marciano. Those that claim these men were well past their best would be hard pressed to present evidence of the contrary. One can focus on their age and number of fights..but when one watches what they were doing in the ring..they look as great as ever. Even if they were a little past it, Adamek hasn't done the things they did or even close.

-Doubtful Vitali will ever be recongized as an ATG, especially if he drops his alphabet title to Adamek, giving him a losing record against top 5 opposition. How the hell can you argue that as greatness? However, I will give Adamek full credit for beating the number 2 heavy in the world, especially if he does so convincingly.

I can read that two ways, at least.

"My idol is Archie Moore...homo." (as in, the opposite of "no homo"-to make clear that my idolizing this man is homosexual at its root)
    Or
"My idol is Archie Moore, you big homo." (as in, I'm conversing with a homosexual male or female for sure)
