An exemplary performance of Ownership, I commend thee Addie. My one minor gripe is that you neglected to mention that Joe C was also knocked down by lightmiddleweight nobody Kabary Salem.
Romero lost to Willy Salazar, but by all accounts it was a 'Hail Mary' punch from out of the clear blue sky that turned the tide and led to the end, much like Foreman-Moorer, Jackson-Graham or Pacquiao-Sasakul. He wasn't outboxed, outfought or dominated by ol' Willy.
He didn't beat Lacy or Kessler on the backfoot either. Props to Addie for cutting a swath through the clueless goons on this thread. :happy
Some informed input on the General Forum for once. :good I can see how someone would rank Tapia over Calzaghe, I can see how someone would rank Calzaghe over Tapia. Hence the thread.
Easy question to answer for me... I PREFER Tapia's style and fights over Calz any day of the week. Tapia: Better fighter. Calzqghe: Better boxer
That's a typically pointless and reductive response. Calzaghe is the better boxer, yet Tapia is a vastly superior combination-puncher, so I think you should re-define the term 'boxer'. Brevity is not always a virtue my friend. In fact, when it comes to boxing debate brevity is often the refuge of the dim. To reduce the debate to "he's a fighter" and "he's a boxer" is, for want of a better phrase: bull****.
Tapia. and for the record, Calslappy would never have the balls to face a dangerous prime fighter at a higher weight like Tapia did against a prime Barrera.
Decent choice of fighters, very close, although I say Calzaghe edges it. On a seperate topic, I wonder who would win between Tapia and Dutch Boy Gym?
It's informed, but mostly irrelevant. What do Tapia's age and drug issues have to do with how great he is and what he has achieved?
Popkins cant accept Calzaghe never lost and beat Hopkins. He fails to mention Joe also won the Ring WBC WBA & IBF SMW titles
